BEAUTIFUL SKS's !!

Type56Carbineandclips.jpg

Stock came much lighter and with some pretty serious damage to the right side near the butt from the crate.
A week of light sanding, about 12 Heinekens, some nice stain and Voila! Like new rifle!

Looks great.

Best "build' so far :)

Lol, I had decked it out prior but, stock's still best IMHO.

I found that the pistol grip really lightened the already light recoil of the 7.62x39mm. However the Tapco stock also added significant weight to the carbine which I found to be undesired. Not that the SKS is a heavy rifle by any means but, I prefer mine in it's stock configuration. Decided after a few trips to the woods to simply refinish the original stock. It's only downside is the midget-like LOP.

I see what you're saying as well but I believe the RCMP would still deem the bullpup stock a prohibited device and would not allow them into the country. The new sub model would need its own FRT I do believe so in the end I just don't think there is a loophole for bullpups. Now what they could do is manufacture newly built receivers that accept standard SKS parts but redesign the receiver so it only fits the bullpup stock. Then its not an SKS but a new bullpup rifle. The receiver bears the serial # and is the registered part. Dlask was/is doing something like that with the M14. The only problem is the costs would be astronomical even from Norinco. To design and mfr both a brand new receiver and stock plus source parts kits and assemble them would put the price per rifle well over $1k. The spare SKS parts probably dont cut much cost over doing large runs of new parts thanks to China's massive labour force. That means the SKS is now competing with entry level black rifles not to mention the T97. Don't get me wrong, it could be done but not for the cheap price people expect to pay for an SKS.

I understand what you are saying, but if the manufacturer never made the rifle attached a wooden stock to it in the factory and purchased these aftemarket stocks to attach for their initial assembly before they sold them (new), to me that would be how they were manufactured(assembled) and cover one requirement.

On the downside, if you say that part of the reciever or action needs to be designed or integrated into the bull pup stock, then it would likely not meet that requirement.

I was thinking for a second that maybe norinco could just order aftermarket parts, assemble them from new and stamp the rifles as a sub model.

The above rifle was priced for sale at $650. That to me would be interesting to see available, despite what the "under-bridge dwellers" would say.

Thats kinda what I figured, it was more of a question then a proposal.

Hey Supernova and everyone else in this thread who love their SKS's, Svt's and other Red rifles modded or stock, go check out Mark Williams, welded SVT40 scope mount. It's a beaut! and it makes many of his comments seem a little out of place against modding an SKS, but it does not seem to apply to an SVT40... Hmmmmm, Weird.. :)

Wow he really s**t the bed. Couldn't drill and tap? I think he means not smarter than the tools required. The SKS reciever wall supports optics with just two 8-32 bolts, the SVT looks even thicker. In the end his true colors show just like Brendan, he can't match what others are capable of so he tries to talk s**t behind the safety of the internet. Just makes himself look bad. But whatever, when the welds fail and his scope smashes on the ground he'll only have himself to blame for his shoddy craftsmanship. How bout some more SKS pics? Post em up guys, modded or stock I don't care!

I had my suspicions. So many Canadians lost their Sten builds and the thousands of dollars invested in each one plus Marstar lost their inventory of BD-38s. Not to mention those who already bought one. What a douche, he can go fu(k himself.

"Mark Williams" is just another internet alias for the guy behind the infamous s@skst3n.com. He's caused trouble on every board he's been on, and been banned from cgn countless times. Just ignore him till he gets banned again. Too bad it won't bring back the BD-38

Given the choice of buying from a snake or not owning one I choose to not give a dime to your selfish operation. Therefore they are not available. This is an SKS thread, start your own again to showcase your stens and get yourself banned like you did before.

Some really great rifles! I been thinking about going the other way, stripping the bayonet, installing Williams peep sight, firing pin spring, recoil buffer and trigger spring. Then finally cutting the mag flush for an adler swamp deer carbine. Anyone tried to figure a way to keep the cleaning rod without the bayonet, having a full cleaning kit on board is always a bonus?
