Okay so I am awaiting a Benelli entry model and from what i've read they hold 5+1+1 of 2 3/4". Since a semi can have 5 3" shells if that's what it's designed for would it be possible to put a +1 on it? Does anyone make a +1? I know it would stick out, i'm just seeing if it's possible.

The law is specific to the number of rounds of the calibre of origin that can be held inside a magazine. In this case, the calibre of origin seems to be 2 3/4'' and not 3''. Hence, it holds 5 x 2 3/4'' and cannot be modified to hold 5 x 3''.
 
That seems to make perfect sense. I was just trying to get away with an extra round. Looks like the Mossberg 930 and the 3.5" semi's are the way to do that.
 
what about if person want to use for IPSC ? there are extensions that are sold online and will add extra one.
 
as yohann said doing that would make it prohibited. in canada a semi auto shotgun is limited to 4+1 no exceptions. a pump has no limit as i have a 8+1 mossberg. btw i have an m4 18.5" collapsible stock non restricted.
 
Not true. The magazine is restricted to 5 rounds.
Plus one in the chamber and a ghost on the lifter makes a semi have a capacity of 7 legally.
As long as your benelli is marked and chambered for 3" shells (which the M4 IS) it can have a magazine that can hold 5.999999 of them as long as the sixth won't fit.
That may allow you to hold more than 5 2.75" ones in your tube with extension. It may not I'm not sure.
Whrever Allan92 got the idea a semi-auto magazine for a shotgun would be legally different than one for a rifle is unfounded in law.

We should sticky this as it comes up every 8 or 9th thread and is becoming redundant.
 
It is legal, no one makes one right now (or ever).

M4 is made for 3" shells, so you could theoretically (and legally) have 6 2-3/4 or 2-5/8 in there as long as you couldn't fit the 6th 3" as OP stated.
 
FYI Just saw an RCMP letter on shotgun mag extensions . Any extension that allows more than 5 shots on a semi-auto is a prohibited device according to them ....and please don't shoot the messenger .

its a non issues sisnce the rcmp ruleling on the lar 15 10rd mags and the 9mm v 40cal pistol mags

The m4 is a 3 inch 12ga cal shotgun in semi auto, it is allowed in canada to hold a max of 5rds of 3 inch in the mag tube, the fact that it mag hold 6 of 2 3/4 or 8 of the mini shells does not matter.

same as if you un modified 40cal pistol mag holds 13rs of 9mm or your 10rd ar15 pistol mag works in your rifle.
Its their own (rcmp) ruleing not owns.
