Not sure why folks think that the Benelli M4 would reliably run light target loads for clays... the thing is supposed to shoot full power slugs and buckshot - especially with those self cleaning pistons creating more friction as it gets dirtier. The lighter loads just don't have the power to drive the action back hard enough.

My M4 after a thorough cleaning and oiling can maybe run 25-50 rounds of high velocity or regular target loads before starting to malfunction. My Benelli M2 / Franchi Affinity are much less picky on ammo and will and has eaten and cycled just about everything I have thrown at it. I'd ask folks fondling the M4 at the gun counter, what they really were planning on using the shotgun for.... like ground or aerial targets, and if the answer was mostly clays I'd suggest a more traditional shotgun instead - or if it was a mix of both, I'd suggest a "competition" style gun with a shorter 20-24 in barrel and a bead / fiber optic instead of ghost rings. I'm a big fan of the M2 both the competition and the tactical - you get that tactical john wick shotgun, but still retain reliability cycling lighter stuff.

But to each their own, I bust clays just fine with the M4 (Full choke) and an aimpoint on top - but personally I prefer a more traditional non pistol grip shotgun like my M2 or Franchi as they just point better for me.
And as for the turkish clones... well my personal opinion is similar to that of the Norinco AR's. Fun range toys for the money. But would not trust them for anything more then that. That being said Benelli's can have issues as well it does happen, mine really does not like to cycle score buckshot for some reason, but federal flight control will run all day long. Also have seen a benelli M4 with a factory defect with the chrome flaking off the bolt face with that one going back under warranty.
For the record I run an M4 and two M2's... And have shot turkish guns friends have brought out in the past, but don't personally own any. I have seen first hand some of the issues as well.
