Beretta 1301 Mod 2 - What's Up With Canadian Versions?

the Updated handguard was one of the biggest attractions for me. Extremely disappointing we cant even get that.
I got it this morning. No upgraded handguard. Just lifter and flat trigger.

BUT it did come in a nice Beretta hard case. Apparently our US friends don't get that because the MLOK hardguard is put on by Beretta US, and then re shipped in a cardboard box, whereas our Canadian versions come directly from Italy; hence the hard case.

I think I would have preferred the mlok handguard over the hard case, from a purely value proposition perspective.

Regardless, I already put in an order for a Mesa Tactical MLOK handguard that fits my 1301 and / or my M4.

All in all, still very happy with my purchase, bought from one of our site sponsors and a store from which I have purchased more than any other, in the last number of years. It is a bonus that the price for this was lowest I could find anywhere else. Great service and fulfilment.

Let us know what it likes to eat, and how it patterns for you.

I shall. My shoulder is screwed up so need to find my old man’s recoil shoulder pad. Hope to maybe to to my club this week.

I did run 12 ga snap caps/dummy rounds through it and manually cycled. It is super smooth.

It comes with the limiter plug installed so had remove it. I didnt think the plug was in there because there was a plug in the case with the accessories. Looks like they sent 2 plugs - one installed and one a spare.

Bummer it doesn’t come with a manual. Apparently Beretta is “going green” (read: cheap) and directing their customers to an online manual via a QR code.

I registered it with Beretta (Stoeger Canada) in order to get the 3 year warranty (otherwise it is one). I gotta love these Italian companies. My Benellis have 10 year warranties and Franchi 7 year.

Take 'er easy on the shoulder!

Took the 1301 to my club. Superb firearm. Seemed like I felt the recoil more than my M4...but I have significant shoulder pain with which I am struggling at present as it is, so it was probably pretty stupid to try this without finding my Caldwell recoil pad.

That said, I shot 12 slugs (what we can shoot at my club) and the cycling was smooth and the sights were pretty good. I may not decide to put a red dot on it after all. Had to get my buddy to come and shoot the remaining 13 slugs as my shoulder just killed due to the pre-existing shoulder pain...and even hours later after I get home and typing this, my arm doesn't seem to be working optimally. Time to apply the ice.

From a handling and ergonomics and comfort perspective, I like it better than my M4. The checkering grippiness of the forend and around the stock area is superb. I think the heavier M4 probably mitigates the felt recoil a bit. I am just glad I didn't bring my pump.

Here's hoping some ice, advil, and rest is all that's required for your shoulder (maybe add some rye to that ice?). I don't have any semi 12 gauges, but when I do pop that bubble, I'm convinced it'll be a 1301.

Dealer S&B have a draw on 3 of their modded 1301's right now, and I've donated to that cause with some amount of hope that my number actually strikes gold as it were.

I wish my shoulder problems were that easily. It does look like it is not a quick fix and requires surgery, unfortunately. So my shottys may be in the safe for quite some time.

When do you require more than 2 rounds of 00 buck to resolve a situation? Maybe 3?

I received my 940 Pro Tactical yesterday. 4+1.
I dont know when you would, but one thing is sure, if you ever do need more than 2 rounds and dont have them, you wont live to tell us about it lol. I like as many rounds as i can possibly have (preferably legally) in literally any situation. Why not.

You might have to shoot from the hip:)

Yes starting to regret selling that 590 Shockwave SPX. Thought the whole idea of shooting from the hip for a HD gun was a tad hoaky at best.

Back to the 1301, I so wish that the Canadian distributor added the MLOK handguard. The Briley one is like over $600 and the Midwest One is over $300. I just put a second hand Mesa Truckee one on my M4, though I heard it's compatible with the 1301 with some additional bits and pieces...but I already installed it on the M4 so wo will keep looking... I do like the weight of the 1301 and the feel better than the much heavier M4 (which is even more heavier now with the Truckee forend)

Why didn't you just purchase a 1301T with the Mod 2 forend?

Sweet, thanks...and the price is reasonable...thanks man, I shall order

EDIT - ack, out of stock. I shall find a way to get on waitlist
YW. If you have f or f in the USA you can get it from BUSA, I just checked Stoeger Canada no sign of it on their website after an earlier email request to CS. You can also try Al Flaherty's as they are a "Beretta Boutique" dealer.

Its definitely the cherry on top without breaking the bank
