Beretta 1301: Post your mods/upgrades!

I found some comparison photos of the new 1301 receiver vs a modified:

Thanks for the pics. Guess it's a start but you'd think they'd make the front slope on the loading port less acute so your fingers glide off easier when quad loading. That said, I still love my 1301 Comp. I only found out that one of the other diff between the Comp and Tactical other than the 3.5" receiver is that the Comp has a widened loading port unlike the Tactical. I should have done my homework more throughly. Glad I went with the Comp.

Umm am I the only one wondering what is holding that follower in on that mod’d one? That follower is really hanging out there.

The same thing that holds it on most shotguns, the shell stop/latch. The tube is completely open on most and usually relies on a spring loaded or similar mechanism to retain shells in the mag tube.

Huh? So if the follower is held in by the shell stop, wouldn’t it fly out of the mag tube area into the loading port area when you fired your last round? Any follower I’ve seen is held in by a narrower rim on the receiver that the mag tube butts up to when pressed or screwed into the receiver. That’s why if you open your port too far, you could end up with a paper weight. Or am I missing what your laying down?

I believe the follower is bigger than the shell and will still stay in the tube. I've never really thought about it that much but I am sure there is a point where the follower would eventually fall out.

Well I jammed it up in a match...
Or I final found a reason to put on the Shield for the bolt release, lol
Stage start was on a table, loaded magazine with a closed bolt - empty chamber.
Sounded easy....until the beep went off.
Grabbed the gun and went to rack it but my knuckles hit the back of the bolt release and locked it up solid.
What should have been a sub 15 second run was just north of 45...but no DQ.
So it pays to put the shield on.
Cut out the mag well as well, as best I could considering the serial numbers proximity, need a match to prove it but it seems better in practice.
Question though (not that I’ve seen it):
IF a stage had a table start condition of loaded tube with empty chamber and bolt locked open.
How can you do it?
Not sure if that start is even allowed in the rules but I noticed today there was no way I could get it to lock back with anything in the tube and the lifter is locked if the bolt is locked back so I can’t fill the magazine...

The shrouds are cheap and he even ships free from the US. I usually load with an empty chamber so I can ghost load at the end.
1. Hit bolt release and ride it forward into battery
2. Load tube
3. This is where I would pull the bolt back and do my ghost load but if you wanted to lock the bolt open hit the little button on the centre rear of the lifter (just in front of the trigger guard) and pull it back, it will then lock back. I have never seen this condition for a stage start though.

Spits a shell out onto the lifter when I do that and then won’t lock, until the magazine is empty.
Haven’t seen that start either but I found it odd I couldn’t do it.
I already had the shield which made the epic fail on the stage that much more special...
Still love the gun though, it’s a keeper.

I just ordered the SGA adapter for the 1301. I don't own a 1301. Guess I'll have to...you know...get a 1301 to put the adapter and stock on. I just want you to all know you are horrible influences and I blame you and your upgrade thread for enabling me! :d;)

You won't be disappointed! :p

That SGA adapter is amazing. I was holding off on the 1301 due to the rear stock really just not fitting me well. The SGA is one of my favorites I will need this for sure.

Finally got my 1301 Tactical in the mail, but the SGA stock adapter is still on back order. It's pretty clear that Beretta made a serious commitment to keep the weight down on the 1301 through the use of polymer/plastic...and succeeded! Really loving the way it handles, which is a relief since I couldn't handle one before buying!
