Going to add my 2 cents here.
I had the opportunity to shoot a PX4 a few weeks ago. Before I completely bash the pistol, I would like to thank Rommelrommel for letting me try it. So no hard feelings. When I'm out that way again, I'll bring a few pistols for you to try out. Thanks again.
Now onto the pistol. I hated the grip, the way it balanced, the overall feel and mostly the trigger. This trigger made the trigger on the 5946 look like a target set up. The trigger completely ruined the pistol. The balance and fit could be subjective, but not the trigger.
There were also some feed problems that I encountered. Which really surprised the heck out of me. I had about 3 jams with the RX4 storm in 40 rounds. I've had 2-3 FTF from the 5946 and both were ammo related (old stuff left around and used for practice) in over 5000 rounds fired. The PX4 had some sort of feed ramp issue. Often requiring more than a stage one (Tap, rack Tabernack) clearance. That's a death sentence for a police style pistol.
A couple of days ago I purchased a CX4 Storm carbine. I made sure it used the 92 pistol mags and not the RX4 mags. Based on my experience and feelings about the RX4 I felt that the 92 mags were a much safer bet since there will always be mags around for it. I'm not as convinced of the longevity of the RX4. The Storm carbine was a completely different animal, the trigger while long and a bit heavy was clean and crisp, the balance was good, and by all reports it's a favourite amongst shooters. It's too bad they could get it so right with the carbine and completely miss the mark with the pistol. On a side note I've always enjoyed shooting the older Beretta pistols. They always worked well, and I found the triggers to be decent. I'm not sure how they screwed the pouch on this last on
Just my thoughts from handling one in a store, and trying out one at a range.
