I agree about the Brno point....

I was recently in the same spot as you were... trying to decide between several .22's...

I came down to the 452 vs an old Brno... went with the old Brno #4, and am thrilled... I found it here on CGN... and paid way less than I would have for a new 452... and MAN WHAT A SWEET RIFLE!

People aren't exagerating when they comment on the craftmanship and quality of these rifles... and accurate too!

Try the EE... last I checked there were 2 model 4's still for sale... I got mine for less than the ones left in the EE, but they are sweet rifles!

if you all had the choice between a brno 453 american stock .or the new browning t bolt .which one would you take .cost is around the same for both.

I've had a couple of the CZ Brno model 2E. They are a very well made rifle. Adult size stock, solid steel action and parts, and steel 5 shot or 10 shot mags. They are also very accurite guns. They offer one in a heavy barrel, too, but the standard barrel will cancil Christmas on any gopher you hold them sights on:D .

Why would you sell your semi-auto 10/22 when the question was... "looking to pick up a 22 bolt action, which models offer the best bang for the buck?" :rolleyes: :p

There's a lot of good choices, depending on whether your intrests are target shooting, plinking, hunting and the price range you're looking at. My son's Marlin 925 is a very nice and accurate gun and under $200! In the mid price range I think CZ's and Brno's are great choices! Brno's are getting harder to find because they're so good and more people know it now and they tend to get snapped up pretty fast.
My personal favorites at the moment are my 1958 Brno #5 with the curved buttplate, and my CIL/Anschutz 310.

Some day I might look at getting an upper end .22 sporter like something in the Anschutz 1700 Series with the match 54 action.

hehe, I think you misread the author of that post, it was not me, you guys just happened to convince him as well!
 
Yes, Quality 22 rimfires usually get shot a lot, so they are a better investment than a centerfire, technically. I really like the "better" rimfires, and have several,(541S, 541T x2, Sako Finnfire, CZ452 American, 581, 581S,...) but also recognize the very fine older Mossbergs as great shooting rifles at bargain prices.(I have: 151K, 351K, 152, 340B, 146B x3, 42M, 640K, 44US, ...) Also residing in my gunsafe is a lonesome Winchester M68. Regards, Eagleye.
