Best .22 pistol out there?

Not the cheapest, necessarily. Looking for the whole package....reliability, durability, don't care about red dot etc. Just looking for something to take to the range and have fun.

i quite like my ruger sr22, its been nothing but great for me, and accurate(enough) the issue people have with it, is its small framed

Stay away from .22 Glock or GSG pistols. Pure annoyance. You really dont want them. Best bang for the buck - Id say Ruger Mk4. I like fixed barrel pistols, plink with Norinco M93. Can put 8-9 out of 10 in a head of a man sized target from around 20m. I wont suggest buying one of those unless you are into them. Fired my friend's Ruger. Its a bit more accurate but a lot heavier, not that in matters to me, but yea, a bit different but you cant go wrong with that.

I took the MK IV and my Glock 44 to the range today. The MK IV was crazy accurate with the new trigger. I was able to put rounds through the same hole at 15 yds off the bench. The Glock has a much stiffer trigger but I was able to get loonies size groups after a few rounds.

The new Sig P322 reviews are really good so far. I'll probably give it a try when it will be available here in Canada.

X2 for the S&W victory! Literally over 10k rounds through mine without failure and the full fibre optic sight is great

Ruger 2245 or MK2, 3 and 4 or Browning Buckmark. But having issues with newer Rugers. I'm glad I switched to Browning ( The gold one ) as it is a much better pistol.

I could ring a 6x6 metal plate at 25y 6 out of 8 (sometimes 8 of 8) with a Ruger SP101 22lr

That's not saying much for accuracy. I had a Ruger Single 6 and with a 2x scope it could accurately hit a 8" gong at 100M.

I have a Buckmark Contour and a Ruger Mark III 22/45, both good but I prefer the Buckmark. Ruger Mark IV is as good as Mark III with the takedown as a winning factor. Cleaning both the Buckmark and Ruger Mark III are on same level, you just have to get the feel of both. GSG 1911/Sig Sauer 1911 .22 are identical. Value for money, and good aftersales support and upgrade parts are good. Colt 1911 .22 and Browning 1911 .22 also feels good and feels like better built than the cheaper GSG/Sig Sauer, but costs a little more. Glock is also available in .22 or in conversion kits. CZ Kadet or its conversion kit for CZ 75/58 is rock solid. There are very good older conversion kits for 1911s. But expect to pay premium if you can find one in the used market or even a new unit. Revolvers are also worth exploring. Ruger, S&W, Alfa Project etc. They even come in 2-cylinder package .22/22 mag or with an optional 22 mag cylinder which can be purchased separately. I would suggest, try any of the available pistols or revolvers from friends or members of your club. Bring your own ammo. As some pistols/revolvers are ammo picky, get some .22 HV and .22 SV ammo and ask the owner which ammo he prefers to be used. Federal Automatch, CCI Minimag and SV, Blazer, Winchester M22 feeds good with most of the pistols I used. Match grade ammos are definitely more reliable and accurate but costs a little more. Try as much available pistols and revolvers you can. Grip and Sight you have to consider before you decide on what suits your need.

Safe Shooting!
