looks like the cz varmint has a 1-9 twist which won't be good for bullets heavier than 70gn. If you wan't to shoot the 70-90gn pills I would consider a savage 12 VLP DBM as seen below;

The savage is a hair just below $1000 at wholesale
I had a remington sps in 223 with 1-9 and it was awesome for the 55 gn noslers but wouldn't shoot 77 gn bergers at all.

Have you tried the 75 grain amax??My 223 is a 1:9 and wont shoot 55gr well but form the 36, 40, 50, 53, 60, 68, and 77gr bullets all shoot well

Anyone try 556 AMMO in their guns ? what were the results ?
I had a Remington 700 SPS Tactical that I used to shoot Norinco 556 ammo with. Accuracy wasn't terrible (2-3 MOA) but at least 1 in 5 rounds resulted in a light primer strike. The military grade primers were too hard for reliable use in the rifle.

I"ve been using the norinco spam can stuff in my cz. I get the odd flier, but 85% of it is pretty good. Shoots within about an inch at 100 yards. I bought it for the brass to reload anyways. I also get the odd one where the primer doesn't fire, and I pulled the bullet, reprimed the case, and put it back together again. And it fires... I think I had 7-8 misfires out of about 300 shots taken so far.
In my gun, the norinco shot an inch higher than the federal stuff did. For factory ammo, federal 55gr seemed to work the best.
Tikka T3 Lite Stainless $800+tx has a 1:8 twist, great for heavier .223 and a tack driver straight out of the box.

I only made an observation about what I saw... I know nothing of the other conditions, as my friend had borrowed it to try from one of his friends....If the gun had Rust, it got wet. Period. Tikka rifles don't just suddenly rust. Sheesh.
The Tikka rifles are bar none the BEST value I this price range. I have had a Remington 700 SPS, A Savage 111, A savage 12FV, A Remington 799, and now a Tikka. The trigger is the best by far, and it shoots just over half inch groups all day long with my hand loads (75 Gr A-max and IMR-4064). I have went through all these rifles, and the Tikka is the best by a long shot.
