Best home defense shotgun ?

Given our safe storage laws where the shotgun must be stored unloaded, trigger locked and ammunition stored separately, or together without a trigger lock in a safe. The choice of best or worst is pretty much immaterial.

Most of the gun media is from the states where it is legal to have a shotgun loaded. Loaded an eight round pump action shotgun would be a good home defense choice. Here complying with our safe storage laws less so.

Ammo can be in the same container as the gun as long as it's all locked up.

best gun is one that is ready. hard to quickly load a shotgun under stress. IIRC, you cant keep a loaded gun in the safe w/in city limits, but you can keep loaded mags.

You can legally store loaded mags next to a pistol in a finger print vault.
Ready to go in well less than ten seconds....

Open door, cable is released, grab mag, insert. There is a notch cut in the bottom of the door.

There are amusing things you can do to the lock.

in 10 seconds a real situation can be over.

Disgusting we can't legally protect ourselves properly in this POS country.

I highly doubt you'd succeed in court if you tried to say this was a legitimate method for securing your firearm.

Electronic cable lock with bonus secure ammo compartment..... nice.
I think I'd prefer a slightly slower combo trigger lock and a separate simplex lock box.... no batteries required.

For fast access to my shotgun I use a combination trigger lock that only requires one digit to be rolled one place.

This is how I lock my pistols and carbines going to the range, so I am very familiar with which number to move. I can do it in the dark.

How long does it take to run from your front door or other likely point of entry to the bed where you sleep. Because you have no more than that amount of time to retrieve, load and chamber, and then cover the door while you plan your next move. If you sleep with your door open then you have even less time.

I do the same for all my guns my eyesight even in decent light can be an issue

I keep a regulator style 12ga beside the bed. I have solids locks and doors and a 170lbs english mastiff that can crush a moose leg bone in a single bite. I also have decent neighbours 7 freezers and a walkin cooler. Break and enters are far to common in my city. Luckily i grew up with the wrong end of towners and they know i dont tolerate them or their kids messing with my stuff
A solid reputation is a great defense.
I like a good sxs 12ga for ease of use and selection of rounds. I have weaponry available in almost every room and on my person at all times.
Its only a missing persons case until they find a corpse.
I tend to avoid confrontation nowadays but mess with my family and im not a nice guy. Section 32 and 34 of the criminal code and training in use of force im confident in my life choices
