Hey everyone,
I'm just getting into handgun shooting and am looking at making a few purchases once the upgraded PAL goes through. I am on a budget, so amongst some of the purchases there will be some Norinco products in there, however my question is not "are they any good", rather where should I be buying from?
Is there currently an importer that has a good rep of bringing in decent/consistent shipments? Are the warranties worth it at this price point or just buy from whoever/wherever?

Any comments on this are appreciated

Which ever reputable dealer offers you the best deal,Canada ammo has free shipping but if there's somewhere local to you then it's a non issue and you'll get it quicker. Look at the top of the page, those are the guys you want to look at.

CanadaAmmo has great Norinco pistols. Lots of vendors on the top of the page have Norinco's.

Not as many in stock as in past years or so recently but still available. They are decent guns, the fit/finish is exactly what you would expect at that price range but they work and get the job done.

I would not hesitate to purchase one.

Norinco products are garbage. You are better off buying a Glock, CZ, Sig or M&P. With some upgrades, you can have a budget competition gun.

22LR kits are available for them.

Nothing wrong to buy Norinco as your FIRST gun. And trust me, you'll be buying other guns AFTER you buy Norinco.

Grabbed my NP-29 from Ryan at SFRC www.theammosource.com, was a very pleasant experience, I also have a M93 that shoots very accurrately and reliably too. Nothing wrong with Norincos, but they are really sharp ("sharp" good looking from a moderate distance, and "sharp" physically when held in hand). But it gets the price down for some cheaper fun.

I bought a 1911 Norinco several years back, good fit and finish, never any issue with it. For the price, you cant beat it. It shot and shoots better than my buddy's Colt .45

pay NO attention to this post above.

the Norinco pistol is made from the best & hardest material. You wont break it,..it will shoot forever. You cant beet the price for what you get. My 1911 has gone head to head with some very high dollar guns. you will find many on this forum that feel the same way. My norck 45 shoots as well as my CZ

The best Norinco pistol I've ever had is the M93 Sportsman in 22LR. It's even more accurate (at least the one I have) than the original Colt Woodsman. Fit and finish are impeccable. Beautiful bluing. Everytime I take it to the range I'm overwhelmed by the quality of that little pistol. Never had any jam with it.
Unfortunately, for reasons which I don't understand, Norinco discontinued its production.

When I was Cabalas this week they told me they were going to start handling Norinco products like the M305 and the 97 bull pup.
Cabelas out in BC has most of the Norinco lineup that is available in Canada in store.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! I'm thinking AL Flaherty's is a good deal with the NP22 price at $349 and it's a 20-30 min drive for me. Didn't want to turn this into one of THOSE threads lol. The plan is to pick up a NP29 & NP22 and also a S&W sd9ve that way I have most of the bases covered (striker fired Glock style, DA/SA, SA's etc...). I know I will be buying more in the future, this is mostly about getting into the market with decent quality. I was also considering saving a bit more coin for a Seraphim Armoury GI 1911 or a SAM instead of the norc.

if u can get your hands on the 2 tone sport version of the 1911- I just got 1 and it's got most of the bells and whistles I have on my Wilson equipped colt- the only thing is the trigger doesn't have the over-travel screw- to be absolutely honest, I look at the colt and say "what in the hell did I spend all that money on?

You get what you pay for. Buy junk and get Junk. Any one tells you they are made from the best steel Is WRONG . A large amount of 1911's crack along the guide rod edges .
The lever action shot guns need a gun smith right from the start . If you are concerned about Bang for your buck's buy a Smith or Colt or Glock Used and enjoy.

I have both Colt & Norinco 1911 .45's & like em both the same! The only reason I paid 4 times as much for the colt is because I wanted a stainless gun. Oh well, it's only money.....The Colt has better sights, but those Norinco's are good shooters for little $'s

Happy shootin!

there is nothing wrong with buying a Norc to start with.
90% of pistol owners in Canada im sure have had or have a Norc in their stable im sure.

for me i wanted to get my feet wet in the 1911 style guns but wanted to test it out before dumping $1000 a gun on them.
so i picked up a Norc.
i was able to shoot it and play with it until i was 100% comfortable with the platform.
i than picked up another to 'play gunsmith' with and do some gunsmithing experiments with.
after that i moved up to a bunch of nice 1911's.

everyone knows they are base models made in China sweat shops and you get what you pay for.
but they are solid made guns and they do run good.
hell, 460Rowlands norc's are one of the only guns they recommend for their conversion because the frames are so solid!

i also did the same with Norc AR's when i wanted to get into AR's.

i also did the same with the M305 when i wanted to get into M14's.

hell, i did the same with NP22 when i wanted to try out a sig without dropping a grand on one.
i got one for $100!

they are a excellent stepping stone and learning gun for a lot of different platforms.

on a related note, the Norc i picked up for my 460Rowland build came fully upgraded with all the bells and whistles on it.
front and rear slide serrations, fiber optic front sights, adjustable rears, extended mag and slide release and ambi safety.

i was pretty shocked that it came with every option and i got it on sale for less than $300 i think.
ya cant beat that for a fully loaded 1911!

fit and finish was typical norc but hey, what do ya want for $300!

the SA and SAM are definitely a step up from the Norcs.
the fit and finish are night and day better.
last time i checked the prices had gone up up UP on them!
im very happy i picked up my SAMs when i did, half of what they are charging now for them!
