Best NR 9mm Glock fed Pistol Calibre Carbine PCC

It’s a tall order to find a truly reliable pcc that is non-restricted AND takes Glock mags. Most of them I would class as “range toys” and would not stand up to adverse conditions and a heavy fire schedule. Essentially, my definition of “reliable” is whether or not I’d trust my life to it. Maybe that’s extreme for some, but to each their own.

I’d second the recommendation of the APC9. It is an outstanding firearm. It’s expensive and I don’t know if the version with the Glock lower has made it to Canada. You’d also need to get someone to make you a non-res barrel. The GHM9 is also an interesting option, available with a Glock compatible lower, although it might not be aesthetically pleasing with a non-res barrel.

If Glock mags were removed from the equation, I’d recommend the Scorpion EVO hands down. It is an extremely simple and robust carbine, designed for military service. It’s lightweight, has tons of parts and aftermarket options AND it’s relatively cheap.

Have not tried the 9mm Tavor, but presumably it too would be a good choice.

Were it not for the 5 round mag limit I would own one. Same with the SIG MPX.

The CX4 Storm is also another one to think about, although it does not use Glock mag, but you can get the 92 mag in 40 S&W and that would let you have more than 10 round in a mag.

I was looking at buying a sub2k, I wonder if the gen 2 is worth having?

The gen 2 is easily TWICE the gun that the gen 1 was, if a quick folding super lightweight and portable PCC is what your looking for... its definitely worth looking into.

I have a gen 2 sub2000 glock mag with almost all the upgrades out there and I love the thing. I’m getting close to 2k rounds through it without a single issue. It eats anything even cheap steel case and just goes and goes. But of lube every couple hundred rounds and it is happy. I always have it when camping or hiking. Can’t speak for the others as I do not own them but the sub2k is worth looking at for sure.

TD makes a great carbine that is all to often overlooked probably because the original models were ugly plus they have a slightly higher price tag than some of the other NR PCC's.

Slightly higher? It's twice the price of the Ruger/keltec.

Right. Expensive, but very nicely made, at least from the pictures I've seen. In a different class compared to the Keltec especially. My impression of a friend's Ruger takedown 9mm is that it seems somewhat better made than a Keltec product, feels very solid. And of course both of those less expensive options get much smaller for transport, not the Thureon. I realise that the PCC class includes both takedowns and non-takedowns, but it sort of seems like not having it come apart for packing defeats a lot of the attaction of a PCC.

Yes, compared to firearms like the JR Carbine, CZ Scorpion EVO and Freedom Ordnance FX-9 the Thureon Defense is only slightly more. Actually I picked mine up for $1199 so it really wasn't higher priced at all.

The TD is SOLIDLY built, made from nothing but machined aluminum and steel. I'm not comparing the TD to the plastic craptastic guns. Comparing this to the Kel-Tec is laughable.

This is very helpful. I agree that the B&T are top quality. Accurate and Swiss made perfection. I have a TP9 and 1/2 dozen mags at $60 each. So any non restricted carbine that takes the polymer BT mags like the APC9 or the GHM9 (if it came in NR) would be ideal.

Glock advantage is simple if you shoot Glock pistols. I must have 40 G17 and G19 mags for Production IPSC.

The Versions of the S2K seem promising. I have a restricted range toy (QC10 Glock AR9)... But NR is good as well

My PCC's

Ruger PCC - reliable, very accurate, NR, very good trigger, takes Glock mags, threaded for flash hider, brake, well made
Cons: - heavy but well balanced.

Sub2K Gen2 -very reliable, compact when folded, decent sights if you open up the rear 13/64 bit, threaded for flash hider, brake. well made, decent trigger

CX4 Storm - reliable, compact, Rest/NR versions, takes Beretta Mags, accurate, worst trigger of any gun I have owned but useable, well made.

Kidon Pistol Carbine Kit - takes over 100 pistols with adapters, well made, as reliable as the pistol you install, trigger is as good as the pistol you install. not inexpensive but very well designed. Support direct from Israel is very good. Unit is as short as the CZ Evo or Sig MPX but uses 10 round pistol mags. Accuracy out to 100 yards is as accurate as the shooter can manage using an Optic. Iron sights are Polymer but robust and will co-witness depending on Optic sight mounted. Comes with 3 position AR style butt stock.

A buddy of mine has a Kriss Vector. Heavy, a tank. Expensive. He has since bought a Ruger PCC and is looking at the Kidon.

That's great. The Kidon reminds me of the Hera triarri. Always a good option however NR is a key.

I've shot the Ruger and saw that the newest version is modular. Not sure if it's coming to Canada soon

This is great guys! I was pretty close to buying the updated railed Ruger PC9 here at Cabelas, but looked online and noticed that the US modular pistol grip version just came out!!!

I held both model Rugers yesterday. The old and the new one with the new front end. I didn't like the new model at all. To front heavy. I bought the old model instead.

Good info Bob ^^^^ I have used a friends FX9 and it seems like a great firearm. Looking to pick one up for my collection. Has a very similar feel to a full size AR rifle. But I think I will definitely look out for a kidon, but I agree that for me, NR is key.

I am also interested in a PCC, hoping for the new ruger AR style PC carbine comes out. I am also worried that if I buy it I will get bored of it quick. I see a bunch of Freedom FX-9's for sale.

You are a real optimist with Trudeau wetting his pants and racing to ban AR's. I would wait until we see what he does with the idea of spending $600,000 to fund his buy back plan.
