Yes. They will.
Op asked about a sub $3500 rifle. Insinuating he wanted to spend up to that amount. No mention of intended application or cartridge/caliber.
Suggesting an “older Remington 700” and then trolling posters who gave legitimate suggestions is how these threads stop being useful…

So your opinion is the only one. Got it.

You make it seem that modern gun makers don’t know what they’re doing, and that custom builds are in a different league. Weatherby MKV and Kimbers are some of the most advanced factory rifles. At the end of the day they might shoot as well as a model 700.

An accurate rifle can come in any make or quality. Some rifles happen to have a perfect barrel. Some rifles are accurate with a certain load or factory ammo it happens to like. A friend of mine bought an 80's M700 in 30-06 that shot incredibly well with several brands of factory ammo, I mean ragged holes. A rifle that does that is an accurate rifle imo. Another friend of mine had a push feed M70 300WM, it was a club of a rifle but it would rival any custom rifle in accuracy. With higher quality and custom rifles you would have a better chance of getting an accurate rifle but still no guarantee.

Interesting that no one listed some of the fine European firearms that are high quality and accurate, such as Sako, Sauer, Steyr (well, maybe someone did mention Steyr), Merkel, or others...there are some very fine rifles made by these companies too.

I have very limited experience with some of these, so I cannot say for certain, but I do know that I have been very happy with several Sako's that I have owned over the years, and my wife loves her Steyr. And I have heard some very good reports regarding Sauer rifles; I just haven't had the pleasure of trying one myself, yet. These are well made and all shoot better than MOA; even 1/2 MOA or better with preferred loads and factory ammunition.
(And yes, I also own some factory rifles (Remington, Ruger and Browning) and custom rifles that will shoot MOA or better with preferred loads and factory ammunition.)

As with all firearms, quality and accuracy are subjective to the individual as to what is "best", and for what purpose...such as hunting, target, or long range.

My Mark V in 300 Win Mag will do under .5 MOA with several hand loads and consistently prints .75 - .95 with Barnes factory ammo... can't imagine needing anything more accurate for hunting IMHO.
 
Buy a new sako 85 for nearly 3k and you’ll realize that spending more money often doesn’t get you a better hunting rifle
