Best rimfire pistol out there

Check out S&W new sw22 Victory. Mine is new with only one range round, but if Saturday was any indicator, this will be my new .22 favourite!

(And someone needs nappy time...)

Ya couldn't think of anything.. seriously he is right about the bickering etc.

Actually it was unkind to you so I deleted the post. I prefer to discuss guns on here rather than engage in flame wars.

He may have a point about the bickering as you say but his reply to diopter struck me as thin skinned, snarky and overly touchy, so I said so.

I have the Ruger MkII and the S&W41. I think the Ruger may be the better option as it costs less and isn't as picky with ammo.
I do prefer my S&W41 to shoot though. Once you find the ammo it likes it is hard to beat the feel and accuracy of it.

There are some really good used High Standards out there for around $300.00-400.00. Pleasure to shoot, eat anything and very, very accurate.

Had mine for years, and have shot a lot of others over the years too. Mine is an old Sport King from the '70s; military style grip, satin chrome, fully checkered walnut grips. Only one I have ever seen with the barrel held on with a socket head cap screw.

I have owned a few Browning Buckmarks and a Ruger in the past, they were good guns. My latest .22 pistol is the new S&W SW22 Victory. This gun is a definite keeper. The price is right, they are a pleasure to work on and they are very accurate and reliable.

The aftermarket companies have jumped all over the Victory and offer a lot of nice affordable upgrades. I installed the TK adjustable trigger in mine and ended up with a trigger pull of 1lb 12oz.

Did you folks know that Ruger made a Mk.1 before they made those Mk.2's, 3's and 4's?

And that they shoot just as well as those later models?

I mention this only because in thread after thread, for over 10 years now, I see people recommending Rugers- but never the Mk. 1's.

They're generally cheaper, too.

Yes but they cost every bit as much as the mk ii and mk iii

I've always been partial to the Ruger MK series, including the MKI, the lines are subtly different and they look good. The thing I love about the MKIII vs. the MK I & II is the button mag release. Haven't tried the MKIV but I imagine it'd be similar. I've used it on some informal IDPA practice courses and the regular mag release just makes for better practice, other ergonomics aside. Had my MKIII since 2008, put thousands through it. Have ten mags for it which helps move ammo fast. I did remove the mag disconnect (? IIRC) and install a bushing in there and a couple other mods to get the trigger to where I liked it, but I like it. I won't move that pistol.

Interesting, maybe it's just me, but a Ruger 6.5" single six has proven to be my most accurate pistol. I did like my 5.5" bull barrel MKIII as well, but not as accurate.
