I've been on many shotgun hunts but haven't had many shooting opportunities. My experiences however have been different than yours: most times deer are either out of range of my smooth bore, shot/slug gun, or moving fairly fast. Regardless I can't agree with you that NOT having to manually reload and re-acquire a sight picture is not an advantage. Its simply mathematics. Maybe the real debate is whether its enough of an advantage that it supercedes the benefits of accuracy, reliability and cost of bolts and pumps. But in the real world, as Carverk mentionned, the gun is only part of the equation. Thanks all.
