Two of the new model Winchester triggers froze up eh, well. I’ve not seen that myself but hey it could happen. You could’ve led with that though, it’d be much easier to believe rather than assume you where just repeating something you’d heard on the Internet. I find the new trigger just as good all things considered as the old. I like both. It does take some heat and a bit of time to adjust the new trigger the first time but after that your golden!

Two enclosed triggers or two Winchester enclosed triggers?

I never said Winchester triggers. I said enclosed triggers. And take a look at the difference between the old and new triggers. The advantages and disadvantages are obvious.
 
If you use your rifle as a shovel, an enclosed trigger may not be right for you. But they are the best compromise between performance and function.
Ruger might be the last holdout on an open type trigger. And need the most grinding, re-springing to get them to 2.5#.
 
Guns get used outside. Saw a walker trigger freeze solid on the side of a mountain. The weather was inclement as the weather is apt to be in such locations. Cost the owner a 170” ram.

People can have their opinions myself included. Use what you want. Enclosed triggers on using rifles suck.
 
The responsibility is on the hunter to keep the gun operational. If you let water/ice into the action, barrel, scope etc and then blame the rifle, no design will help you.

I have both types in my safe. I’ve used both extensively. I wouldn’t choose one over the other. YMMV!
 
You must hunt with people that blame their gear. Worlds full of people who aren’t familiar with equipment and refuse maintenance. Brutal. Always happens on a big scoring animal too. Yeah right…
 
Jim, use your head. No one blamed their equipment. This isn’t something that happened on their first trip out. But it happened and a child can see that an enclosed trigger in blowing snow at the end of October on the side of a mountain might cause a problem. And it did.
