Black Bear hides

Just went out for the morning only saw two 5' - 5 1/2' let them go so they can be bigger next year.

If the laws have not changed you can tan the hide and get the skull cleaned then sell them on E-Bay.

I tried bear meat several ways and it stunk like dirty coyote.I always gave the meat to someone if they wanted it but bedamned if I could stomach it.I kept the hides and skulls..............Harold

You have to remove every ounce of fat from it, or it will stink and taste like ####. I have had some that was almost sweet, as the bear spent a lot of time in the berry patch...

My last bear was the hit of the game party I went to. Even people who hated bear before or have never tried it. Was one of only two dishes completely licked clean. So good in pepperoni/ham and sausages as well. Just have to keep it clean.

You mean this one!!!

Get them soft tanned. This guy will run around $175 and make a nice cover for the back of a couch. I know one guy that want's enough to make a bed topper for his camper!!!

NICE bruin btw!

I have had summer dinner parties and served cold bear roast sliced thinly and garlic bear balls (no, not what you think) ground bear meat balls gently flavoured with garlic and herbs and had vegetarians who hadn't eaten meat in 20 years enjoy it.

In my opinion it is all about selecting a younger or at least not aged animal in a good location and taking extremely good care of the meat.

I skin and quarter a bear immediately and cool the meat down as fast as possible and process it right away as well.
