Black Creek Labs AR180 based rifle SVR2 Siberian approved for Non restricted FRT

I noticed in the video that they updated the non-reciprocating charging handle so it's longer now and covers the opening that was visible in the pics of the prototype at TACCOM. Good move.

Nice catch! I noticed that in the updated render, but not the video. It explains why the upper is in the white, as they wanted to test their improvements, including this one.

Some of the worlds finest firearm designs use a reciprocating charging handle.
Personally, I think its a non-issue whether it has one or not, and I'd certainly not pay extra for one without, as it isn't an upgrade by any measure.

come hunting with me sometime. you'll be pulling spruce bark out of all the nooks and crannies of the inside of your rifle. i get it though, depends on use and overall receiver design. reciprocating charging handles that don't expose the insides of the firearm are fine (like my remingtons, ruger, etc.). will it run with a spruce twig in there with the hammer, trigger mechanisms, recoil springs? dunno, mebbe once or twice, mebbe forever. i'd pay more for the upgrade.

You reasoning doesn't even make sense.
What does a reciprocating or non-reciprocating charging handle have to do with getting parts of of a tree in a firearm?

look at the design of a 180 clone and tell me how you can take down the firearm while having the charging handle connected to the BCG (reciprocating) without having an open slot on the side. the only way i can figure is to have the charging handle not connected to the bcg - non-reciprocating. either that or resort to something like on the galil ace (or sig) or perhaps an ak safety type thing that covers the slot. or have a threaded charging handle (which hasn't worked so well on the 180 clones to-date) located further forward on the bcg so that it can cycle without a slot so long that the internals are exposed. non-reciprocating makes more sense to me. ymmv.

Is that some kind of anti-debris ingress charging handle slot cover in the render?

yes that’s a “dust cover plate”

Posted in the Marstar thread and ZERO response regarding these issues.

As for this exact rifle.....I'll point out the obvious that even the camera operator obviously noticed and focused on.

The Taccom video on the rifle linked in the Marstar product page, at time stamps 3:10 and 5:44 the major misalignment of the receiver to handguard really stands out!!!!

The rear stock adapter area does not run with the guns bodylines at all, the differences in the machining height looks absolutely horrible. Timestamp 5:15.

The folding stock covers most of the ejection port when folded, does this hinder reliable operation when firing?

Is the rifle in the youtube video the complete production version of the rifle being sold?

I want to buy and love their products, but these same issues remain regardless who takes over the company!!! *Slams head against wall*

As I understand it, the rifle(s?) at TACCOM was a prototype and you can see in the most recent video and renders that BCL is addressing at least one of the shortcomings (e.g. adding a "dust cover plate" whereas the TACCOM prototype had an opening where the charging handle would slide along).

My hope is that the rest of the shortcomings are going to be squared away in the production rifles. Keen eye btw, I didn't see any of those issues you timestamped.
