I have hunted exclusively with my 18.5" RFB for the past 2 seasons, with very good success: a few mulies and a moose. I use my reloads with Barnes TTSX 168 grn. bullets. I find the RFB to be the perfect hunting rifle, to the point that I sold my old bolt rifle. As someone else pointed out, it shines off-hand.
I won't post pictures, because I don't think it helps, you can't beat Hollywood culture: I was at the receiving end of prejudice based on the rifle's looks from many, starting with my wife and kids, and including my hunting partner who solemnly declared that "that thing" is not a hunting rifle because it doesn't look like a hunting rifle. Nowadays, my partner is often passing on shots and asks me to shoot instead because he has more confidence in my RFB (we hunt strictly for the freezer, not for bragging rights).
My favourite thing to say to people who tell me that it is a military "assault" weapon, and therefore inappropriate for hunting, is that in fact it is them who hunt with military rifles: all modern bolt action rifles without exception are variants of the Mauser k98 and other late 19th century designs, who became the standard technology for all of the world's armies and saw action in 2 world wars and countless other, and killed millions, while the few RFB's out there have seldom shot anything else than paper. I'm pretty sure that the early adopters of 100 years ago who took a bolt action hunting got the same treatment from the traditionalists of their day.
