Black Rifle Optics...

I want to pickup a Bull barrel for benchshooting.I already havea CQB AR for 3 gun withall the toys on it,but I would like the Bull for plinking 300 meters at the club.

By the way what kind of cost is there to an average scope for this?? I used C7's &8's in the Forces and I couldnt tell tell you what we used on our Sniper based rifles, but they were something else.I shot one once but never went on the Sniper course.Im sure they are big bucks though.

The 10X C3A1 Unertl was on the C3A1's it replaced the 6X Khales off the orginal 2x4 C3's

Now their are Schmitt and Bender's, US Optics, Leupolds etc in the stream...

Has anyone looked at, or better yet, used the Schmidt & Bender 1.1-4x20 CQB Police Marksman II referred to in the Larry VICKERS article? Any idea where one would get one in Canada?

I have a 1.5-6x Schmidt & Bender; the quality is tops, but the dealer I bought it off of has since gone back to Germany. :(

A scope shop?

Seriously your question i slike where is it best to buy a car...

Find a shop with some you can look at and get a idea of what you want then buy it -- failing that P&D stock Leupold, TSE does Nightforce, Wolverine does S&B, not sure who does US Optics in Canada...

I'll stick to my SN-4

ssgp2, is this the one you have? What do you have this attached to? Would this work good with a Sig Arms blue star special .223? M14 .308? Supplier in Canada? Any info on this ... in plain english that I could understand as I've read the link part in your post ... and well I's confused ... :? Thanks fellow CGner's,

Sorry about the delay Otokiak.

Just saw your post :(

Here is mine on top of a FN FAL

It is a SN-4 that was made for the US Dept of Energy to put on top of they're M4.

I put a doubler on it to bring the power up from 1x4 to 2x8.I also have a BDC for the 168 at 2600fps.

This scope can be installed on any type of rifle with a weaver or picatinny rail in seconds without loosing it zero.

I used it on my rem 700p,AR,FN,RUGER10-22, a friend M-4.
here is a pic from Iraq, on top of an M14

Here is a close up of mine and it's reticle, the design of the reticle is for the 55gr in the M4 plateform, ranging stradia up to 500yds.
The brackets on the lower left is to range a 5' target at 300,400,500yds.

Let me know if you have other questions

C79 Elcan
This is the battle sight for the Canadian Army. It is mounted onto the C7A1 and C9A1 (M249) [now C7A2 and C9A2] (BTW what sort of pinhead puts optics on an area weapon? - plus, the added shaking!). The Elcan has suffered through a long line of teething problems. While the optics (3.4X) are top-notch, the mount has issues. I broke a few during my service with the CF, and once returned with only the mount

What scope would survive the abuse that would cause a Elcan to be ripped from it's base. Even if it did survive, would it be worth using ?

I have just added to my optics selection with a EoTech 512 (AA version, no night vision).

This goes along with my Aimpoint Comp M2, and my Leupold Mark4 1.5 - 5 illuminated M/RT scope.

Once I get some time, I am going to do a heads up comparison on these short (CQB) to medium range optics on my AR & M14.

SKBY.

Considering the issues with the Cmore Tactical holosight as listed above by Kev, are there any bonuses to it's use?...For someone who is not into tactical application in the field, but likes the use of a holosight, is this still an acceptable tool?

Is it still accurate, and how easy does it lose it's zero with basic use at the range (ie replacing firearm back into the guncase, transportation, shoulder carry, etc)?

More scopes

Leupold MkIV MR/T -- not bad -- but not a CQB scope -- more of a DMR scope and using

NightForce NSX 1-4x -- not daylight visible (same vis issues as the Leupy) -- kinda annoying that they dont plan on fixing that issue

More to follow
my ARMS #2 broke on my C8 carry handle gun (and no flattops where I am housed right now) so not a good test anyway.

I think Leupy missed the boat with the 1.5-5x M2
It not a bad sight --- but the lack of daylight visibility and the 1.5x min power tends to limit it from a tactical employment.

Not a bad sight for a DMR optic -- if you use a DR Optic as a CQB sight.
The 5x max resolution will limit tgt ID - but not a bad fit for a section DM
