boresnake ripped apart while cleaning

Why cant you just push the snake through if it gets stuck??? MY damn .22 bore bush got stuck in my .22 this weekend, I needed someone to rip the thing out as I held it lol. #### happens with everything. Still don't know why my brush got jammed up, first time using it.

rimfire barrels have a tighter bore then centerfire barrels

Then do the same thing I did and get a 20 caliber jag and a Tipton cleaning rod, just for cleaning my rimfire rifles.

Problem solved.

Weird, I have two .22 boresnakes. One at work for quickly going through C7s and C8s before vault inspections and one at home. I've probably used them hundreds and hundreds of times and nothing bad happened. Code 18?

I bought one years ago, used it once and never looked at it Again. It is a pain and just from a design point of view doesn't make sense unless you clean it after every pass through which would be a huge pain in the ass.
Buy a good cleaning rod and chuck the bore snake out.

Used the non-viper boresnake on issued c7s and civvy ar15s, I always had a cleaner rifle in much less time compared to others not using the boresnake. I have seen the viper versions get stuck and break in the barrels a few times, luckily there was an end left to grab with a gerber.

Worst thing the army ever did was give troops bore snakes.. I have had to drill afew out of barrels and good luck getting snow or mud out of your barrel with a limp bore snake.

Watched a guy pour lighter fluid down a barrel plugged with a bore snake and light it. Never stuck around to hear if it worked. It was in a 22.

If your boresnake is tight it needs to be stretched so it doesn't bunch in the barrel. Pull resistance on the tail while pulling through the barrel. It's simple and they work perfectly if you can figure it out.

Give the snake, between the leader and the brush, a couple twists...this keeps the diameter a little smaller for the pass. If you've already got one stuck...you should still be able to twist to release. Just don't get too crazy with it, and don't twist against the rotation of your rifling!

This guy can help with a stuck bore snake.

Weird, I've been using one with great results for ten years now. They're great on chrome bore ARs. They definitely can't replace the issue segmented rod - you still need that to use the chamber cleaning brush and for clearing obstructions or stuck cases.

But if your choices are running a boresnake or a segmented steel rod down the bore, the boresnake is the better option. Pulled correctly (straight) the cord won't contact the bore, causing no wear.

I was always very happy using one on my C7. Still have the original one, it's holding up great after 10 years. I use them almost dry, with just a bit of CLP ahead of the brush section.

I've had no trouble with my 17cal one(or 22 one). I always use it at the range after shooting. One or two passes till I get home. The 17 fouls up so bad it's hard to get the weight down the barrel the first try. I always wondered what would happen if it broke in the barrel. How would you get it out?

IIRC, on a 20" bbl, the tail of the thick section will still be sticking out of the chamber when the start of it clears the muzzle. So there's always something to grab onto.

If not, a patch worm on a rod and pulling it out oughta do it...

use a push rod to get it out. Don't use wood. It's a pain to get things unstuck from a barrel but oil tends to help. Just dump it down the barrel let it soak in then try pulling it out. With the bore snake it has a brass brush inside so when you pull backwards it's harder due to the brush digging in. It's the brush that is stuck. You can use air and try and blast it out sometimes that works if you have an air compressor.
