Bought the dream rifle, or bought the farm, today.

A work of art. Since a rifle like that will never depreciate, can't it be argued that it costs nothing to own? I'll think I'll practice that line in the mirror before bringing it up with the Minister of War and Finance.:d Such high level negotiations require a deft touch.

Ardent: Just saw this thread. Absolutely top of the line, gorgeous double rifle! Quality vs. quantity. I stopped by the Purdy store while in London last summer and gazed at their shotgun display. That is about as close to high quality as I have ever gotten.

One of my objections to double rifles is two triggers, each with its own feel, but not this one. I'm curious to know how the trigger resets, if you shot primers, apparently recoil doesn't reset it. That rifle requires a word that exceeds what is conveyed by beautiful.

Quite right, it is mechanical and moves to the next barrel without requiring recoil, which I was happy to find, Dogleg had enquired earlier. I too prefer a single trigger and same for my side by side shotguns, I don't mind a double trigger set up, but a double rifle with a single is as fast and simple as a rifle can be. The single trigger option is quite rare and really attracted me to this gun, add to that it being a .375 Flanged mag, a double chambering I'd been considering for some time view as an ideal all rounder and there was no way I could let it pass.

:)

I've been waiting to see these photo's impatiently. Well worth the wait. I'm sure it was a looong while for you awaiting shipping. If I could bother you for the barrel wall thickness at the muzzle and action I would be appreciative.

Congratulations on a wise choice of firearm and memory investing.

I have to admit it's on a level only another Holland & Holland I've had and enjoyed comes close to. Every detail is perfect, wood to metal is peerless, engraving exact mirror image, etc, it's pretty neat to just enjoy it as a drinking partner in the study. I don't even have a study anymore at the new place but damned if any room I'm in holding this doesn't feel like one.

How much of the buttstock will you be cutting off to install that Pachmyer recoil pad?

Oh I figure just enough time on the belt sander to remove the crescent in the butt and get it flat for the Limbsaver.

:)

I'll be happy to, will get back to you and thanks for the kind words. One note I was surprised how small the frame is, they build the .375s very svelte.

Thanks!

No rush as it's just a curiosity to me for now. I hope she fits you naturally, it looks to be pretty neutral proportions on the stock so should be good.
