Boyds M1A Stock

Putting the stock liner in is necessary for the gun to sit where it should in the stock. Having said that, my stock is still too short at the front. It might still work, but it looks bad. I will need an over sized ferrule to make up the difference.
Here is a pic of my stock as it came from Boyds.

That's how my Boyds stocks came as well. They're not designed to fit a chinese receiver. If you take a look at a US made receiver be it a USGI, current Springfield Armory or a LRB Arms, the right side is milled a little different.

Here's how my Poly fit in the stock after 5 minutes with a file -

It fits great now.

I did not realize there were so many issues with the Boyds' stock on the Norc. I was considering a pepper laminate but now I am strongly reconsidering.

Regards,

"...will have to make..." Some fitting is normal. Including the butt plate.
Gunparts, Stateside, lists reconditioned, issue, butt plate assemblies at $36US. $22.25US for a beat up one. Plus their $25 export fee.
"...stock and my rifle went..." No stock will cause that.

I am done finishing my boyds stock. (a 35$ stock!!!) I am missing the front sling attachment, can someone help me find an in-expensive one ? I would like something with a rail but not for 100$...

They do say some minor fitting may be required, but you would rather have to spend 5 minutes with a file and have a nice snug fit than have the gun drop in and rattle around.

The inside of my stock was very poorly milled out so I had to sand it down and reshape some areas. It would have worked as is, but I couldn't stand looking at it. The finish had rough spots and tooling marks. In the end I managed to fix most of the mess with a little tlc, but the stock liner is positioned about 1/8 inch too far forward and there is nothing I could do about that. It will work and doesn't look half bad in the end. If this stock was made in China I would have at least been prepared for crude manufacturing.
