Thank you for sharing. I added it to the list. Can you make-out the original serial number? The 36754 was probably re-stamped by the gunsmith who customized this rifle, which only coincidentally places it in the 1952 serial number range.I’ve recently picked up a strange one. It’s a 1941 Waffenwerke A.G. Brünn wartime action, that’s been overstamped with serial 36754 and obviously completed in 1952.
It’s got the round receiver, claw mounts with fitted Hensoldt Weltzar 1.5-6 scope on see through mounts. Horn grip cap and buttplate, jewelled extractor and bolt release. Military flag safety, charger guide, and case colour hardening on the bolt and shroud. It has the bolt guide rib and the slot in the receiver. 7x57. Not sure how to add photos. I posted pics here though.
This is what I noted in the list:
"1941, serial #?, round, 22F, 7x57, surplus Brünn wartime action, with bolt guide rib, charger guide, claw mounts, early (original?) Hendsoldt Weltzar 1.5-6 scope. Customized rifle re-stamped with serial number: 36754, which coincidentally places it in the 1952 serial number range."
What I am most interested in is the original action size. I wonder if the action was a common surplus large-ring K98 that was beautifully turned-down to small-ring dimensions by Brno, or, was it indeed built on a rare VZ-33 or G.33/40 wartime small-ring 98 action? This is now the second Brno 22F that I have encountered with a surplus Brünn wartime action with small-ring dimensions. I suspect the later.
It is also worth noting that German arms manufacturers, including occupied Brno, also built hunting rifles during the war !!
