Browning X Bolt

No experience but they sure look good and feel great to hold,a serious lack of them in different calibre's in southern Alberta,I've had a .223 on order for months,I was told they'd be here in August and I aint heard s--t !!Got a Tikka T3 instead !! Might look into a .243 if there were any around.
The scope mounts look great too.
Good luck.

Have heard nothing but great things from people I really respect in the rifle game. Excellent accuracy, good function, and very little in the way of problems. I would probably get one, but as I'm left handed, I might be waiting a while....though I would still be hard pressed to get rid of my Tikka T3s for one.

Don't know about the A-bolt but the X-Bolt has been a sweet performer for me. First groups of my .280 out of the box with factory ammo were MOA and my handloads are 1/2 MOA using TTSX bullets. Like the whole rig and some nice features like adjustable trigger, rotary mag that permits lots of room for free throat, and the safety release for unloading.

Great package for the price in my estimation.

A friend of mine has an X-Bolt hunter in .30-06. Beautiful rifle with very good fit and finish, although she kicks like a mule! Can't comment on how it compares with an A-Bolt.

I would be the friend with the .30-06 X-Bolt and yeah it thumps a little but nothing like the older A-bolts or plain stocked .30-06 by any other manuufacturer, the recoil pad eats up a lot of the thump associated with the long action larger calibre rifles. subneural is spoiled ;) with his .308 Remington 700 5-R....that stock chews up a lot of the recoil.

That said the two guns kinda serve two different purposes, though the 5-R is an excellent choice as well you just have to be prepared to carry the extra bit of weight associated with it...that is if you can find one in a shop in the first place

The X-Bolt hunter that I have is a great gun and I have no regrets buying it as to me it's the pick-up truck of rifles for North American big game in terms of an all around calibre that can do it all. As well the big thing I love about this rifle is that it's a dream to carry and just feels right in my hands. I'd suggest going and trying one on for size literally go to a shop and pick it up shoulder it a few times, try it prone and seated as well to be sure you like how it feels.

Try some others as well and see if there is one that "fits" you better than the X-Bolt, who knows you may like it or you may find something else that works better for you.

I just bought one in 300 wsm, stainless. Really i bought it for the feel and comfort of it. I have the A-bolt in a 300wm its a great shooter too but didn't care much for the stock. Even put an aftermarket stock on it. The x-bolt out of the box just feels good, bottom line!

I have a Browning X-bolt in 270wsm I also have a Browning A-bolt in both 270wsm and 300Umag. Both a very nice fit and finish. Both A-bolt and X-bolt shoot great. Personal choice I would take the abolt just because I have more years hunting with one.

Just got the Xbolt 30-06 in stainless and i love it!! But yes it does kick more than any other 06 i have shot in the past.Small price to pay though!!!

I am considering this rifle but I wonder is there a noticeable difference in kick back compared to the Remington 700 or the Tikka T3 all in 30-06. Or are they all about the same?

I have a .308 Synthetic X Bolt that I have chucked 17 165Gr Supreme ballistic tips with and it doesn't kick any harder than the T3 that I had. The X bolt's recoil pad is much more comfy though.

My x-bolt is the composite stalker in 7mm WSM. It's a good shooter. I don't mind the kick. It's not as bad of kick as my Ruger M77 in 7 Rem Mag had. The bolt just doesn't seem that smooth to me. When I chamber a round it seems like there's a spring or something that requires me to give an exta millimeter of push before I can bring the bolt handle down. After firing I bring the bolt handle up, and on the first natural break of the motion, it's not up high enough yet. It needs another little bit to go before I can bring the bolt back. The feel when I load a round, or unload a round just feels 'chunky' when I bring the bolt handle either up or down. I don't like that. But it does shoot good. I'm sure I'd never buy another one. But I'm not sure yet if I want to sell this one. 3 shots touching at 100 yards means I can live with a 'chunky' feeling bolt. If the lack of smooth action causes me to miss an opportunity at game, then I'll get rid of it. I haven't had it hunting yet, so we'll see.

I was asking at a local gun shop and the guys said that if you wanted to hunt in cold conditions that the Xbolt will freeze up and cause problems. Anyone experience this?

Traded an A-bolt for a X-bolt a couple of months ago , very happy .
I'm shooting under an inch groups at 200 yrds. :sniper:

Have not seen a bit of engneering and craftsmanship.Starting from tip(muzzle) to buttstock, I can count unlimited defaults including alluminum trigger that can break on any shot while hunting that you will be left alone to polarbears or anything. Just imagine the hunt without the trigger and it's tideup to trigger mechanism by a really small screw and you would not even dare touching to adjust the trigger and on and on,I can go for all the night,so test it your self not reading the expert's reports.Next the trigger gaurd has not enough room for glove on finger and you can discharge long before you try to sneack your finger into it, you want me keep continue,PM me
