Building a more accurate XCR-L

1moa, but that is what I expected from a Shilen barrel and match ammo.

Have you tried the Black Hills mk262 77gr match stuff yet? That's what I was using in my rifle when I printed the .8moa group. PWS uses nice barrels :)

Tier One Armoury in Edmonton stocks Black Hills and I'm sure they would ship you a box or two if you email them and ask.

People have to remember that guys will post a target but it might be the best out of an entire day. One group might make an inch where the other 10 groups had a 3" spread. Accuracy claims on the internet are an oxymoron.

....Accuracy claims on the internet are an oxymoron.

Don't you just hate that?

By the way....this is mine. XCR-L, 400m, surplus Norc ammo...

I not impressed with norc ammo in my XCR for accuracy,..although it functioned great. I went with some factory Hornady Superformance 53gr factory ammo. Expensive...but consistant and the groups tightened up considerably. I will do a test the next time I am at the range. On gas setting S, heavy barrelled early generation with better trigger grouped installed and polished. sandbagged on the bench...I have no problem with 1.5" groups... LIke my cheapo Savage Axis with 3x9 and light trigger work...benched, and the gun of course like the expensive factory ammo (53gr hornady)

My XCR-L lightweight keymod shoots 2" @ 100yds all day long. Yah I got a few groups that are just barley over 1".... But like mentioned earlier, that's just a "fluke" group. I get 3" + with cheap ammo.

When I first joined this wonderful community, I saw a post of a fellow that had an XCR-L, had the upper and lower worked on a bit, new heavy barrel etc, was shooting .5 moa, pretty impressive for an XCR. I'm looking at buying a .223 bolt gun for a bit more accuracy for shooting coyotes and gophers, but for the cost of a bolt action rifle, could I get my XCR to at least a consultant .75-1 moa shooter? Any people know of anyone that has done this? Where to get it done? And a projected cost? In alberta would be preferred but Canada post is there if there is no other option. Thanks for reading, hopefully hear some feed back
why spend the money on an XCR if absolute accuracy is your goal?, there are other out of the box semi autos that are more accurate in the same price range that do not suffer from the xcr barrel retention shortfalls.

If it was me looking for accuracy I would sell the xcr and buy something that better suited my needs (in this case, more accurate)

xcr with hornady 233 53gr . 100y. benched. at 10 power with vortex scope. the 55gr was shot before above hits...shot high and right. adjusted and then shot 4rds. 2 are touching...and the other at 12. missed the 3rd round or pulled it high.

the 3.5x 10 vortex is not enough scope for this gun and what i want to be able to shoot /distances
