Bushmaster ACR Non-Restricted Review & Range Report

I know its not a loophole but thats what the antis would use in their argument, i remember reading an article where the antis said the cz line of rifles where not prohiobited because of loophole in the AK variant law...

Correct, not a loophole. The antis are dumb about firearms so they made some oversights when making their prohibited list. The CZ 858 was one of those oversights. Has nothing to do with AK47s.

I wonder why they're not as concerned with exploitation of real loopholes in say social assistance or immigration. Oh I forgot, that's their targetted voter demographics. In my books that's far worse than law abiding firearms owners.

When the truth is that the whole idea of a prohibited (or indeed restricted) firearm is just plain stupid in the first place.

Just a few quick questions:

For my restricted version when I take out and reassemble the barrel to the rifle, I do not hear the any audible click sound when the torque is applied, as opposed to what the manual says. Is the barrel really lock tight? I don't know.

And also, after I reinstall the rifle it does not seem to hold zero again and I have to reset my scope a bit. Do you guys have the same situation?

Lastly, is it possible to remove the gas piston system without removing the hand guard and barrel. I do not want to removing the barrel all the times just to clean my gun. The manual says that I can remove the piston without removing the barrel. But I think it is hard. Any advices?

My restricted gun has digested about 3000 rds plus to date, today it was on the line at the Target Sports Canada for the open house. It fired over 2500rds today of Winchester Ranger 55 gr frangible, it was feed from Tango Down 5 rd magazines during the event. It never missed a beat or malfunctioned during the time was used, while I enjoy shooting the ACR - I am still not convinced it will replace my AR platforms.

Questar is sold out of them. Typically they sell for around $3000 for a restricted version. Questar was the only company to sell NR ACR'S and they only had a few. To buy a restricted ACR, set it up with a Questar barrel, and coat it black, with taxes and shipping, would run you about $3600-$4000.

Dang.

Even the restricted is expensive and the penalty for going NR (I know it costs more for the extra barrel) is steep.

If it was around $2-2.5K NR I'd take 2.......
