Keep in-mind that the few affected rifles would have in all likelihood been remedied by now had they not essentially been sitting for the better part of a year pending an FRT...

To each their own, but I've at least put both in my hands before making a determination on preference (I prefer the ACR). And yes, the ACR is more money; but I'd wager that when a NR 6.8SPC kit becomes available the ACR will be a pretty hot item.

I wouldn't. One (loctite) is a design flaw while the other (shim) is a machining oversight that is easy to fix at the factory and once corrected will likely never surface as an issue in the product line again.

I agree with you about waiting. I will be as well until all the bugs are out, and the prices go down. Still a bit high for my me. I also want the release of the gas parts for barrels before I go with an ACR.

I do eventually want one once the above is fixed. For a while there I wasn't interested. Would be a much harder choice if it wasn't for the whole FN SCAR issue and the lack of them being exported in the future.
 
I stopped buying bleeding edge technology after the Sig Mosquito!!
This platform has potential, hopefully they iron out all the problems.
 
Great review. This rifle definitely has the potential to be an XCR killer.

I'll just wait until the price comes down and the 6.8 SPC kit comes out. :D

Hopefully, Magpull will work on sourcing decent 6.8 SPC magazines by then.

Serious, I never had to use any loctite, THATS THE ISSUE.;) I want an ACR , but will wait, primarily because of cash flow, and will still wait untill I hear of no problems with a 3 grand plus rifle. I bought my XCR knowing there were issues and it will certainly not stop me from buying an ACR. I wish the ACR just came imported with a Non Res barrell in black with a flash hider though. Hopefully as soon as this happens I will buy one. It looks like one of the baddest baby killers ever:eek:. And it almost tops on the want list.
Any new rifle design will have its bugs that wil be needed to work out, look at how long it took the AR platform to become as reliable as it is today.
 
Anyone try to remove the izzy muzzle break? I am planning to change another muzzle break but do not know how to take the izzy break out. I believe the muzzle is not threaded. So how to take it out?
 
I thought it had a permanent muzzle brake. It's threaded but the brake is pinned and welded. From what I understand the pins are put in place and then the barrel and muzzle brake are finished.

So you're saying the new "Hunter" edition XCR-M with orange coloured bolts so you can find your way home after hunting by following the pieces, isn't going to happen? :D All jokes aside the XCR brought some nice stuff to the table. I think the ACR adds to that and brings it up a notch. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the ACR.
