I had a Tasco Varmint 6-24 on a Remington 700 when I first got it and everything shot fine. Bought a Bushnell Banner 6-24 and mounted on the .308 only to have the damn scope go out of focus every time I fired the gun. Returned the scope to Bushnell who replaced it. Put the Tasco back on during the wait and never had a problem. Sold the rifle with the Tasco scope and sold the replacement bushnell to a friend.
Bought another rifle and happened to have another Tasco Varmint on hand and threw it on for awhile until the Vortex I ordered arrived. Sold that rifle with the vortex and sold the bushnell to a friend.
Bought a Tasco varmint for my .22 and bought a rifle/scope combo. Took the Tasco off the .22 and mounted it on the new rifle and have been shooting ever since.
no doubt my vortex had the nicest glass at max magnification but I've yet to have a cheap Tasco Varmint fail on me.
Just waiting to put a Varmint on my newest rifle and moving the Tasco back to the .22
