Cabela's can go pound sand

That's odd but not unbelievable, I've ordered several items to be delivered to the store and found the courtesy desk employees to be the most knowledgeable about store policies and such. I know their prices aren't always the best but they seem to stock more stuff than other places I've frequented. One thing I try to do if I think an employee is rude or not helpful is to speak to a manager as they may be unaware of a particular employees crappy attitude.

In Nanaimo the Cabela's is pretty good. I am not super keen on the gun counter team, but better than the WSP team. The rest of the store is staffed by reasonably helpful folk, lots of ladies who seem keen and interested in helping the customer. The only time I have had a bit of static, was changing a pair of trousers, it was a bit of an ordeal mainly down to a poor computer system.

I find them 7/10 on the whole. (However, in the US it is a little different......... Service and the customer comes first.)

Candocad.

Price wasn't all that good to begin with....

I'd only buy stuff when there is free shipping. and usually only stuff on sale. Even then I'd sometimes over pay for stuff.

I haven't had problems until the other day
I went in there
they advertise they will price match
so I had found a shop that will sell my bigfoot B2 decoys pack of 6 regular price $185.99
they simply would not even consider it

and the guy I dealt with was incredibly ignorant and snotty better then thow attitude
so the I just said fine you just lost a sale for 7 dozen decoys which was all my budget would allow
so next I went looking for a certain dog blind they didn't have one in stock
so I went to customer service
the person I spoke to there couldn't speak English hardly
and when I said hello had to input that into a computer to see what type of reply he should give me well DUHHHHHHH
then like they say order it to the store no shipping charges
well that's what I wanted to do
prepay for it have it delivered to the store I would pick it up
nope they wanted to ship it to my home at an added extra super high shipping cost
I said no I would pick it up
after 45 minutes arguing with the nimrods I got pissed off and told them to go pound sand
and walked out frustrated
so I went over to the other store ordered 10 dozen bigfoot B2 feeders at $185.99 per pack of 6 a savings of $84 per pack of 6 so I ordered 3 more dozen to fit the budget I was ready to spend at Cabela's
twas better off going elsewhere , (I didn't need the Cabela's snotty better then thow attitude anyways)
and the other store went out of their way to order me the dog blind I wanted at Cabela's
that Cabela's wouldn't bring to their store for me , for $43 cheaper then Cabela's
never again will I darken Cabella's Regina store doorways
I think I just happened to pick a day they had all of their moron idiot employees on all at the same time

So, why didnt you buy them from the store that had them for the cheaper price?
Is it possible the first store didnt have them in stock?
dont like the box stores then dont shop there.
Spend more time in the field than on the internet complaining about deals not honored.

I never go into a store that size without already having done the research and knowing what I need to know. Large stores hire the most successful retail applicants, generally not enthusiasts in the field. Sometimes you get lucky and find someone very well versed in the topic you need information, but that shouldn't be an expectation. Further to that if they are 'knowledgeable' with their product, it is normally based on literature from their suppliers they are forced to study and know. Actual field experience by front line retail staff is extremely rare, outside of O/O businesses.

With that said I have to agree with some of the above that Cabela's brand products are better than most store brands. Their tactical soft rifle case at $75 (currently on sale for $60) is an absolute steal in comparison to what else is available up here. Their AR15 soft case was even better but appears to have been discontinued.

Ignorant comment?
Buddy, you should either grow up or take up something less stressful than shopping at Cabelas.ca.
Who btw are not site sponsors and appear to be getting lots of free advertising today.
Tip of the Day, dont go outside it is snowing, you might wear some snow flakes.

People whine and complain about small shops not having enough selection and poor return policy,,,same people whine and complain about big box stores not catering to them enough...If there is something to whine about,,,the hunting and shooting community has perfected the art of it.
Both store types have their place and one is no better then the other. Go to your small local shop and try and find 500 goose decoys or a pair of good waders..not gonna happen and vice versa try and find a knowledgeable person behind the gun counter at a big box..not gonna happen.
You have a huge problem w/ one or the other your solution is pretty simple...go somewhere else.

I have always respected your opinion a thought highly of your words
on this site and a Cpl other forums
and i'm thinking we are miss understanding each other here
what i'm complaining about
is if they advertise something then make good on their advertising and don't give their customers a run around about it
so tip of the day for you on this matter you can just go pound sand and then eat my crusty gonch for desert

I think some of you guys that complain about the knowledge and service of the employees should be the change they want to see and get a job at cabellas for $13.00 an hour so they can have knowledable and friendly staff.

What's that? Your knowledge and time are worth more than $350 to $400 take home a work week? Oh... guess we will have to stick with whoever is willing to accept those wages.

The Calgary store has been OK so far for the few things that I have got from them. It just sucks that they are 7 times further away than WS was.

This points out nicely why complaining about prices and service is the head waters of hypocrisy.

I don’t rely on the staff 99% of the time except to locate an item I may be having difficulty finding. Most times I have much more knowledge of the product I am after than the sales staff so just point me to the right aisle and go serve the next customer.

Agreed.
Lets raise the renumeration to a living wage plus benefits and send staff to product knowledge courses. Prices are increased accordingly and most people here will be screaming about the increased prices.
