Cameron man among eight fined $30,000 for poaching moose

I just have to wonder how many of you "righteous" hunters haven't poached in the past, or wouldn't poach if the situation or conditions made it impossible to get caught?

It is called ethics....not righteousness.

definition: the principles of right and wrong that are accepted by an individual or a social group

It would suggest, based on your comments that in your principles of right and wrong...poaching is OK or acceptable...if conditions made it impossible to get caught....is that correct? I can only go by your comments.

For me personally, hunting outside of the regulations is unethical and outside my principles of what right and wrong is. But hey, I am a rule of law kind of guy anyway...

Last year no moose tags :( the whole area is onthe draw to help manage the herd, but saw a lot of moose nice bulls too no problems with the health of the herd where I hunt.
Would I get caught, not much of a chance but not worth it there is always next year.
Worked one year on a logging job doing night supervision of the truckers durring hunting season. Had a nice big herd of elk in the area we would sit and watch them evey night, come daylight they would be in the heavy bush no chance of getting them, I tried. Last few days of the season several of the truckers offered to light up the herd and the picker truck to load up a bull if I wanted to shoot one. Would I get caught not a chance back on those roads. Still didn't take them up on the offer.
Its not about getting caught it's about doing what is right.
These guys no doubt finally got caught, and are getting fined for it. Question is how many more times have they gotten away with poaching.

Never did I say poaching was acceptable, but, as my last 35yrs in the bush has taught me that "ethical" hunters are very few and far between.

So to me it sounds like you are saying that you are the perfect most ethical hunter and we might be, are, have been or wannabe a poacher
That's just the way I'm reading your post?

Morality is what you turn to when you run up against - or out of - law. ;)

I've been a guide, a commercial fisherman, and I am a trapper. I spend more time in the bush then most. I just walked in the door from a day of gopher blasting. Every day I am in the bush, and I stand by my words, most if not all people I have personnly observed, will poach, if given the opportunity. If you don't like to hear the truth, then you can suck my big brown dog...

OK fine, just the ones that you have observed are wannabe poachers. If it were me I'd be much too far from these type of people to be able to observe them as wannabe poachers. Are these the type of people you guide???
You see where I'm going with this!
I'll leave sucking your big brown dog to his master ;)
