I bought the Wilson Combat semi-drop in beaver tail grip safety for mine as well, it did not "drop in". I ended up filing the $hit out of the Wilson unit to get it to fit, and it looked a lot like the OP's when I was done. It looks like his tail also got a bit of file bite, just like mine did.

Call him. He has a red pistol in his gallery and has posted many times about other colors. He has pink as well. Good luck. My lady likes the houge pink and lime green grips whatever it takes to get them out shooting.

This one is the drop in version. No filing. It really did drop in but obviously its not a "tight" fit. I didnt care on this gun though. Only issue is that the stock hammer wont work with a beavertail. You have to swap it out too... which is significantly more difficult.

That's weird. Mine was labelled semi-drop in, not sure if that makes a difference.....sold it recently to another CGNer, some of the parkerizing on the side of the tail was worn away from my file slipping. I changed the hammer, as well as install a new hammer strut and hammer strug pin....didn't want to mess with the Norinco assembly because my pin was actually staked in.
 
Short update. ive run 200 rounds of norinco 45 through this thing with Dlask mags and its run flawlessly. I cleaned up one of the other Norc 1911s I had sitting here still in the grease and, after the 600 or so round this gun has seen along with the coating and upgrades it is VERY smooth. Nearly as smooth as my Ruger. I cut 2 coils off the hammer spring and it made a MASSIVE difference in trigger pull. Best upgrade I did so far IMO.

I also spent some time with another nutter who did some mods to his 1911... all similar to mine but he also cut a few coils off his mag release spring and said it made a difference. Maybe worth trying out.

My plan is to run this gun without cleaning it until it wont run anymore. I want to see just how long it can go and what problems may arise. Ill keep updating as I go.

I have since purchased 2 more of these guns I plan to re-finish in a similar fashion and sell. Im going to just do the frame and slide, not all the small parts though. im going to leave those blued. I actually like that look better.
 
Little update. I ended up with 2 more Norinco 1911's and have pre-sold both already. They will both be refinished with Arma-coat. The first guy asked for all FDE, the other guy asked for all black. Ill show some pics of them finished when they are done. Should be interesting to see them in solid colors.
 
Here are the 2 new norcs already sandblasted. Im only doing the slide and frame on these 2. One in all black, one in all FDE. Ill post up pics of the finished products. They are already sold to members here on the forum.

 
Just finished the Arma-coating process with the 2 guns pictured above. One in all black, one in all FDE. I added 4tsp of reducer to the mix and it really helped even out the finish coming from the Prevail sprayer. They look great. Ill get some pics up later tonight.
 
are you de-horning them before you repaint them?

so de-horning, sandblasting then paint?

just wondering cause i was gonna sit back this winter and de-horn mine then sandblast it.
 
No, just sandblast and arma-coat (definitely not paint). Dehorning is fine if you want to take these guns to the next level. But im pretty sure these are just going to be daily shooters for the guys who bought them. HOnestly, after 3-400 rounds they smooth out ALOT.

Heres the pics of the finished guns. The FDE looks excellent. Black looks great too but its hard to really see how nice it looks because it all just blends in.






 
Interesting, since I am waiting for some parts (hammer, springs, beaver-tail, grips, sights) to start modifying my Norinco(s)......
 
The slide/frame tightens up substantially after coating them. My own gun (the one at the beginning of this thread) has seen just under 500 rounds and the frame/slide area is still tight. The finish holds up really well... even the feed ramp on the frame doesnt have a scratch after 500 rounds. Im impressed.
 
where did you get them sandblasted?
Is it easy to arma-coat?

I tried to find some more info about arma-coating but couldn't find much (how to, what chemical process is it, what are the advantages)

The top left corner 1911 looks amazing!
