Can I order a 10/22 barrel from rimfiresports?

just e-mail them, I received an order from them just a few weeks ago of magazines and VQ parts, no problems at all, but I e-mailed first. Their website says only receivers and firearms won't be shipped outside the US.

Yep they wont do barrels. i was one of the last Canadians to get one beacause they were out of stock and sent it out about a month ago.

I think it's because they(barrels) usually cost over the $100 mark and would need export crap to be able to ship to Canada.

Ah that sucks. I ordered it online a few days ago so I guess I should expect one of those emails saying my order was cancelled.

Dastards!

That's right. Barrels are specifically controlled. Doesn't matter if it is free, an export permit is required.
There are companies that will send barrels across the border without permits. Maybe they don't know, maybe they don't care. If they get caught and prosecuted, its serious. The barrel will be seized, of course, and it is possible the buyer could get flagged.
When Midway got fined for exporting scopes without permits, their shipping records were used against them.

is it too much of a hassle to get the permit?

It is easy for you to get the Cdn. import permit from DFAIT. Free for the asking. Send the Cdn. import permit to your supplier, they send it to the Statre Dept. with their application for an export permit. If the permit is approved, your order could be sent a couple of months after you placed the order. Most suppliers simply will not do the paperwork for export. It is more trouble for them than it is worth. They would rather decline Cdn. orders.

what if rimfire had a friendly canadain who opened a backyard rimfiresports warehouse and shipped then as they were sold? mabye then we could even get aftermarket recievers?

I'm looking into getting a bunch in.
You'd be surprised how many places have turned me down with nothing said other than "we can't".Even when you explain how easy it is to get the export permit.
When you contact a lot of the big US companies and mention export,90% won't even return your emails.:(
A European manufacturer would be ideal,i don't like having to beg to make large quantity purchases from a company.
