Can I shoot Moose with a .204? It finally came....

Geeze , all these new fangled cartridges these days! Piddly little bullets at the speed of light. You'd be better the old ways with a heavy bullet going slow and steady.Like say a 22 hornet with a nice 45 grain bullet just plodding along.I bet you could eat right up to the bullet hole on a moose ;)

You can't be serious! Of course you can shoot a moose with it. Should you is the real question. Tell me your not that much of a fool!

The way this thread has degenerated , displaying just how fun ( and foolish:D )
we can get , I think a rimfire would do just fine, Gibbs!!
Ofcourse, you would need a BSA scope on top and shoot thru rings just in case!!
Cat
Not a question of whether a rimfire could do it, but is a rimfire legal? In BC for most big game it isn't!

You can shoot a Moose with a spitball through a straw....whether it will do any good though is a 28 page thread......

A .204 will get the board into the discussion of ethical kills "again", likely another 28 page thread....

You should read the posts carefuly... I like to inject a little humour now and then. Makes for some fun when the fishes bite.... this is where you go and check in the mirror for gills;)
And yes you are absolutely correct not only is a .204 illegal in most jurisdictions for Moose hunting... it is just plain foolish.
Although we have had the occasional brainiac post that he would use a .22 centerfire on Moose, Polar Bear etc....

Whenever I see anyone ask a question that fits
"Can I shoot a ___________ with a _____________?"

I always think to myself,,, "sure you CAN, doesn't mean it's a good idea, but you can definitely shoot it" haha :p

In the eye Redd ...In the eye... If ya don't kill em outright, you'll get a second chance as he will be running in circles... then shoot him in the other eye... if that don't kill em.. use a good bowie knife... J/K :D
Injected with much humor and no serious intent or content.

LMAO:D

This is another Big Redd posts that will go into the CGN hall of shame;)

right beside the " I need a shotgun rack that I can mount to my ride on mower" thread of years past.:D

Can't beat the sense of humor of a man who can shoot game while sitting on the crapper in his house.:p

Yeah and I was serious about the lawn tractor gun scabbard:mad: ... I wonder if that is still in the archives?

I wish you guys would take me seriously for a change... I wuz only using the moose thing to liven it up a little. I need some .204 feedback...seriously.
No I mean really seriously... Oh never mind.....:(:D

Ha,ha,ha:D :D

wish I could give you some .204 feedback ol'skipper but can't

how about a question instead?

Shooting that light a bullet at a bone mass as thick as a moose's head over a long distance is really adding in every variable you can to leave you with a low percentage shot is it not?

This is a yote round no?

How much punch is the .204 hitting with at 300 yds?

Have you looked at those bolt on rifle/bow yoke outfits intended for the front rack on an ATV? I'm pretty certain they could be made to work with a bit of drilling/fabrication. I'm only serious about this if you are. Hard to tell some days.

Nothing better than the 30/30 and 303 Brit for moose.;)

now now thems fighting words.

I like those rounds, limited yes but they will work at shorter ranges. :)

nothing better then a nice light little 30-30 behind the truck seat to dispatch deer that were stupid enough to jump out in front of my truck bumper then have the tenasity to survive being run over.

now a 204 thats just silly.

My truck is equiped with a reverse gear to deal with this situation. Just kidding. LOL.

Ya, so good luck with that.

I don't have a lot of two oh four feedback buddy, but why don't you just buy a two-four, find some shade and ponder this moose hunt for a while longer eh
