Well I'm not sure I even want to enter this conversation...........my last count was 185 and still counting. I have no desire to thin out the vanilla........or chocolate, or strawberry, or maple walnut, or........well you get the idea. I'm with Dogleg, I only have rifles that I have used and then there are those I intend to use and then there are those I will never use but love anyway.............I just absolutely love sporting guns, handguns, shotguns not so much, I only have about a dozen of them.
Dogleg when we meet in Hell I think they are going to have to call an election..........chances are I'll already be in control when you get there.
I have expensive guns and not so expensive guns, I have multiples in the same cartridge (six 243s last count, several 375s, many 30-30s) but not in identical guns, because that would be redundant. I have a 66 Winchester that I will never fire, but I hold it and stroke it and try to get it to tell me stories from it's past. I just love guns..........
I do a little hunting as most on here are aware and I have my favorites for these purposes, then I have a few wildcats just 'cause I love to #### around and try different sh!t. This part of the hobby feeds the tinkerer in me and the quest for new knowledge and just keeps me busy and out of the bars and out of trouble. Then I have some relatively high end customs which I do shoot but really just love to caress and show off. I have a few just for the eccentricity of them, like my 50 BMG, a couple SKSs, a double 28 ga, 378 Wby etc.
It is my opinion that a man/woman can not have too many toys (guns), what else gives me a reason to get up in the morning..........
I now have my lathe in it's final resting place and have my 458 barrel all chucked up and dialed in and am going to cut it out to my designed 458 on the 416 Ruger case with the shoulder moved ahead slightly and improved to 40 degree. What will it do that the Lott won't? Absolutely nothing, but it entertains the hell out of me to see how well it will work. Firearms to me, are not just hunting tools. They are a statement as to the evolution of mankind, the ingenuity of their design, the quality of the workmanship, they are just an amazing device.
HHHHMMMMMMM..........does the term obsession mean anything to anyone out there, I can't help it. I do occasionally sell the odd one, usually grabbed with out thought, an impulse buy, that I have little to no interest in and no use for it. It happens from time to time but by no means is it a common practice in my house. Besides when anarchy strikes I will be in good stead and all the antis and greenies will be singing a different tune.............
I have no desire to purge myself of any of my firearms, besides look at the fun my boys will have when I tip over, they can flog them all and buy a Ferrari, or two..........at which point I'll likely be seeing them soon...........
