In 500 s&w? That sounds like a terrible gun to shoot!
Dont suppose S&W would consider this would they? They did it for the 629 after all. Maybe a limited run.
Limited run? Limited to the 4 that people would actually buy.
We have a 6.5" barrel S&W500, and that's plenty short for a 50 cal.

Both the 460 and 500 were available as 2.5" models in those orange and yellow "Emergency Kits" that S&W had a few years ago. If a 2.5" barrel is possible, then I don't see why 4.2" would be so far-fetched. Heck, even the 500 comes in a 3.5" model now. Personally, I'd like to see the 460 XVR, Performance Center edition (with non-fluted cylinder) come with a 4.2" barrel, instead of the 3.5" barrel.

We have the same gun .. and for the same reason, only mine was through Chilcotin Guns in Williams Lake. Don't regret the extra $$ it cost over the regular version I was initially after one bit... my 6.5 inch PC with the un-fluted cylinder and bead blast finish.
