CanAm: What about bringing in some other kinds of ammo?

KWATTRO;
Gee I was not aware that we were not talking to Can Am or anybody else for that matter.
Hell we are easy to get along with, been in this racket too long to not talk to anyone trying to make a living in this cut-throat business.

You've got to cut him some slack on this one John. Since most of the players in Canada's gun biz keep wisely quiet about who they deal with, open discussion between two of you causes us giggles of delight.

Sort of like finding out your favourite bar was also going to bring in strippers, bungee jumping, and fireworks.

"...We need 303brit in a bad way!..." Milsurp? It hasn't been used by any military force for eons. Good quality, inexpensive, milsurp .303 ball is gone."

Actually, .303 BALL MK 7Z is still made in India. So is .455" REVOLVER and .380 MkIIz BALL. India is a treasure trove of commonweath firearms and ammo. They even make an 8mm sporting variant of the Lee Enfield.

Now if someone would/could just bring it into the country...

How can you seiously take a company, who is for half a year sold out of ammo, that they keep advertizing as a special deal all across Canada?
I understand, of course it is too ####ing hard to take down they banner on CGN and start treating us like humans, not like animals.

Good Christ, you're some worked up about this, bro. Canada Ammo should update their website, that's true. While dry of ammo they seem to be selling Glocks/SIGs for reasonable prices, but you won't find them on the website either. Is this some kind of personal beef?

If you as a consumer, are frustrated that CanAm has no ammo,
imagine how frustrating it must be for CanAm to be a business with no product to sell.
I'm sure he would love to trade you ammo for money, if he could.

(hey Chris, trade me some 14.5x114 for some of my money, will ya?)

CANUCK 223;
It really is too bad that so few of the dealers talk to one another, then they wonder why it's so easy for the Feds to put the screws to us.

I don't say you have to divulge all your trade secrets but there is no reason be not talk to your fellow dealers.

Why so many treat each other like they were enemies is beyond me, strange indeed.

Since the so-called gun lobby has the Wendies scared spitless, let's up the anti. I nominate Johnone for grand poobah of the Canadian Merchants of Death and kitten killer society.

Seriously, I'd love to see more hand shaking and photo ops than badmouthing. Good things happen when gun nutz work together.

I agree. I'm not easily motivated for these letter writing actions (I didn't participate in the AR-15 lower bonanza late last year) but if something was organized regarding this ammo problem, I would do whatever I could.

The fact we can't get Wolf ammo, and now have basically no way of getting ANY milsurp ammo in, I demand change. Someone tell me where we're going with this!

I like the attitude!
So, like I said on post # 30, how can we make some changes?
John and Chris, what is the biggest pain in the ass for importing ammo, and who is responsible? And which branch of government controls it?
Lets kick ass!:dancingbanana:

Perhaps we can make the case that this is simply an issue of product liability, and should be treated as such by the government. We are not required to submit guns for safety testing in Canada. Why waste government resources testing ammo to be used in untested firearms?

If the originator of this post wants Buffalo Bore ammo he should consider some of the Hammer bullets offered by M.T. Chambers including heavy for cal. 480gr. WFN GC bullets cast hard for the 45/70,450 etc. or 325gr WFN Gc for the 44/444 and consult with Mitchell Ballistics info re: Heavy, Heavy, Heavy(did I say heavy yet?) loads that make Buffalo Bore look like squib loads.

I believe this issue exists because small arms ammunition is considered an explosive, and is regulated by Mining and Natural Resources (or something like that) at the Federal level. Because it's an 'explosive', it has a set of rules that need to be conformed to.

Agree 100% that it's stupid and pointless, but good luck trying to change the beauracracy on this issue.

We did get NRCan toi back down on the reloading regs, maybe we could have similar sucess with ammo as well?

Could we not ask for a streamlined testing process which was not as onerous? For example it would be easier if ammo for testing could be submitted by the importer rather than involving the manufacturer. Testing would only really need to involve selecting a few random boxes, maybe pulling a couple bullets to do a burn rate test on the powder and then shooting a few magazines off... I'd even volunteer my time to do the testing ;)

ilovepotatos, Kano:
You don't want Wolf ammo, trust me. If you don't trust me, hire an interpreter and read the Russian gun forums - it's opinion of all, who used Wolf in all shapes anf forms, that it sucks and is dangerous. I have a thousand rounds of Wolf, that I hate. Only use it for plinking and teaching kids not to flinch.
pontcana:
Personal beef? For that he does not have ammo? Not nearly. I am pissed off, that he is spending time chatting here instead of updating his misleading web site. You would think that in 6 months since they are sold out, someone could press two buttons and remove the product. It's along the lines of that night club owner down in the states, called Paris something, who claimed to the reporters that Paris Hilton was 4 hours late for an event at his. Paris Hilton office never heard of that night club before, but the owner got free ads all across the world. It should be a rule on CGN that no misleading ads are tolerated, but it will never happen.

I am a student. I don't have the time to organize this. But would someone please figure out where we should head on putting in some complaints or whatever we should do?

I only have so many extra hours in the week, because of the whole school and work thing.

So anyone work for the government or own their own business here? :p

I agree, we do need .303, new production and not that Igman stuff. Why isn't Norinco or someone making it? There's millions of Lee Enfields in the world slowly starving to death...

I thin Norinco DOES make it, along with most of the other calibers we love. Ever wonder why we don't see Norinco 7.62x39 anymore? It's because there are importation problem at ports on the Pacific rim.

A ship would have to circumnavigate the globe and offload in Halifax to get that ammo these days. Considering the costs, I sincerely doubt any importer is going to go that route.
