Canpar package not delivered missing in transit - Updated!!

Friday update,

Canpar was supposed to contact me yesterday regarding the ongoing trace of my package. Nothing, called them earlier today was told to hurry up and wait for someone to get back to me, rather underwhelming response now 6 hours later and nada.

To the bashers of Canada Ammo, MY experience with them in this instance has been nothing but excellent, they completed the transfer and shipped my order complete in about a week of time. This is not a Canada Ammo problem but a shipping issue. A Canada Ammo rep has contacted me almost daily with updates or asking if I heard anything new, they will see me taken care of as my package was insured.

To Gleevo glad your pistols arrived now they have to hopefully find mine.

Regards,

Izzit

My .45 came with the ammo at the same time.

As for Canpar, one day I was sitting on my porch when their truck parked on the street between the houses. I said " hey boss, for me?" and the driver said no and drop shipped in the driveway next door.

Later that night my neighbour comes over with my AR and two crates of 5.56. I checked the CanPar site the next day to find "unintelligible " had signed for it. Yeah. Now I'm reluctant to deal with vendors dealing with canpar but what am I gonna do?

I believed that ammo was shipped through Canpar and firearms through Canada post.
Missed the first delivery from Canpar so I signed the delivery notice and specified where to put it.
Guess What ! Arrived home the following day with 1000 rnds of .45 acp AND my 1911 sitting all day on my front stairs for everybody to see!!!
Lucky that they were still there!!!

Everyone has had some pretty bad experiences with CanPar. I can't say the same. My local CanPar guy is great. I met him at the end of my very long, snowy driveway last year when he pulled up. I had a hot coffee for him and he didn't even have to put on his boots. The next 2 packages I ordered, I guess he remembered my name and he gave me a call in the morning from the Depot before he left. Conversation went something like:
"Hey! CanPar here. You going to be around today?"
"No, I'm at work until 5"
"Well, how about rather than me walking down your driveway with a note for your door, I could deliver it to you at work?"
"You can do that?"
"For sure, I have one other package to go into that part of town anyways"

I bet if his manager heard that, he'd get fired pretty quick. They are only to deliver to the address on the package. All sorts of trouble will come if they start delivering "elsewhere" just because it suits them.

So I write on that "Delivery Slip" they leave behind asking if they come back and I'm away where they can put it. Instead of "In Garage" or "On Back Deck" I'll write "At recieving door of work 25 minutes from here" :)

I had the same problem with canpar. They claimed to have delivered the ammo and actually caught the delivery guy running up my, slapping a nobody home sticker on my mail box then leaving. When I asked him about it he said he didnt have it because there had been no room in his truck. They followed that up by delivering the ammom the next day and losing the pistol for 2 weeks....

I love canada ammo but canpar is terrible!

Good luck too anyone whos still waiting

I also had bad experience with Canpar, I ordered parts last October from another vendor, and signed the notice I printed out on their website for first delivery attempt so that I can start working on my project, asked them to leave corner of door as it is not that visible.

Checked the website that they delivered around 3:00 PM, arrived home about 45 minutes later and parcel missing!!!

I have had parcels left there before and never went missing. It could possibly be someone walking by or neighbor who knows what canpar delivers as they could also be a gun owner, or it could possibly be one of canpar delivery employee who decided to go bad as they know what you have ordered based on vendors name, and make you believe that it is someone else other than them. It is very hard to prove unless you have evidence, maybe an outdoor camera.

Reported the incident to the RCMP and CFO, also updated other vendors to flag any strange transaction, my other experience was when my rifle was signed for by my neighbor on first delivery attempt luckily my neighbor gave me my package.

I will not use canpar again unless I have no choice, if I do I will be sure to be home and wait for them with eagle eyes.

To OP, hope it all works out for you, I know the feeling.

Canpar does not even deliver where I live, they call you and you pick up at their location since its contractors up here. No worries about them leaving it on my doorstep thats for sure!

I have had not so great luck with Canpar but with that said it is a contractor that delivers for them here. Had a 1911 combo that they tried to deliver to the wrong address, which I then called in about and had delivered to the right place. Last experience was a rifle and I requested they hold for pickup, which went a lot smoother other than it adds a day to the delivery time. If given pretty much any choice but Canpar even if more expensive I would choose that....although I had CP mishandle a package from an online place pretty badly....and gave it to me at the post office without checking my delivery slip or my ID to see if it was mine, just handed over a firearm without checking. Even with big stickers on the box that said adult signature required and ID required.

I bought a crate of .45 a year back, same deal, just left it lying in front of the door. Many years previous I had a shipping company do that with some motorcycle parts of mine, some neighbourhood ####heads came while I was at work and took it all. I managed to find it all, they had ripped the packages open and tossed it all down a ravine once they realized they couldn't use any of it. Now I get pretty edgy about my stuff being left out for anyone to see and take

The worst part about the canpar situation is that the firearm has already been transfered into your name even if you didnt receive it. When i went into the office after to weeks i saw the guy pick it up off the floor in a corner of the office......... anyone could have taken it and it would have been my responsibility.

mine just spent 3 days in T.O for no reason

Update from today!

Canpar finally got back to me earlier today, the package is now confirmed lost. Canpar was difficult to deal with and hard to contact the investigator for updates. I suppose they had to exhaust all due diligence actions required to find them but I was not impressed.

Steps to complete now that trace is complete,

1. File a police report, was unable to file one until Canpar's internal investigation was complete.
2. Update CFC with the loss report from Canpar and relevant contact information, I filed a report with the CFC prior to Canpar getting back to me.
3. Those firearms will stay on my file with the "lost" record in case they are eventually found.
4. Canada Ammo has two pistols set aside for me and will be transferring them to me ASAP as they had to wait till Canpar completed their loss record.

I dealt with Daniel at Canada Ammo and he was very good at working with me for a resolution. Canada Ammo was initially difficult to contact but once I had it was more than satisfactory.

I spoke to multiple CFC officers and was also satisfied with their assistance with this loss, they were understandably concerned but helpful in their directions to document the situation to ensure I was protected.

To everyone that commented on this thread, thank you for your responses, many of you had valuable input.

Best regards,

Izzit

Good to hear of a resolution. I hope that Canada Ammo isn't out of pocket due to CanPar's negligence

Canada Ammo is out labor hours but the package was insured and those costs will be covered by Canpar.

It's not over till we find out who has the firearms.
Someome commits a major crime with one, and we'll end up having to pick up our guns in person.
I could see it commin', mail orders or courier sevice, no longer allowed. Too dangerous to the public.

no kidding I do hope they find them. Less options would royally suck.

That really sucks. I'm not a big fan of Canpar and this only cements my distrust of their service. Glad to see Canada Ammo are being menches about this whole issue.

That's how it always is...we get eff'd for others' incompetence.
