Canpar package not delivered missing in transit - Updated!!

Well I hope they have the ####tiest tracking system ever because these stories are getting me wondering. I ordered 600 rounds from ammosupply (sorry canam, I usually deal with you, but no .223 on your site right now) and the estimated delivery date from canpar was today. Here is the tracking.

2013-12-09 18:41:30 Arrival at Hub/Terminal from Bulk/City Trailer Calgary
2013-12-09 11:53:29 Pickup from customer/shipper Calgary

Are they sending the next two pistols Via Canpar

I was just thinking that....as I have been watching how this all unfolds, Izzit, I really do feel for you on this one. I have not had this happen, but it truly is an eye opener. I too am concerned that this may in fact mean that we end up with new rules on restricted and shipping. I am glad you have had some resolution to this and I am not at all surprised that these cannot be found. Whomever took them, knew exactly what they were doing.

CanPar is competing well with UPS for crappiest customer service ever. My current battle is over delivery dates. Expected Tuesday, tried Wednesday, left note saying will try again Thursday, didn't try Thursday then tried Friday meanwhile tracking still shows the packages in Toronto and customer "service" says they were not expected to deliver until Monday. Sad how all these CGN dealers are at the mercy of couriers and will lose a lot of my business through no fault of their own.

Yah I initially posted this for feedback but as it grew more interesting I had to continue updating. I expect the conclusion in a few weeks and will post that when I receive my pistols. As I can attest Canada Ammo was great once I got past the contact hurdle very happy with them. Canpar what can I say they troublesome. I sus[ect the person who lost/stole this package knew what they were doing as well.

Izzit

+1

I absolutley agree. I have had CanPar guys ask my wife what kinds of guns or ammo are in the boxes. Someone knew what they were taking. Glad it worked out for you

I also am relieved that Canada Ammo stepped up and had my back on this. Thank you "Courtenayboy" and "samsplacci71" for your support, and to everyone who has been on this ride with me. I have appreciated the words of support and also some very good advice which enabled me to ensure I was ultimately protected from the potential use of those firearms in the commission of a crime.

Izzit

I really hope this doesn't happen enough that they put an end to mail/courier delivery of firearms. last rifle I got (in a sturdy brown cardboard box, no markings whatsoever), the mailman got me to sign, asked for my name, even how to spell it, said "thanks and enjoy your new weapon"! its so obvious when you deal with packages a lot.

Final post,

I received the replacement pistols and a item I tried to add to my order was provided free of charge. I was on vacation for three weeks and I had Canada Ammo hold my two replacement pistols until I was back in Canada. While I was away the transfer was completed and as soon as I was back I contacted Canada Ammo and they had them shipped the next day via Canada Post. Professional people who took care of a customer.

This was an interesting problem as it involved so many levels of Law Enforcement, Winnipeg Police, Calgary Police, Miramichi CFO and Ottawa CFO, at all times I was treated well and the instructions on documenting the issue were clear and the people were extremely helpful. A very pleasant surprise.

Regards and Happy New Year to the great community here on CGN!

Canpar dropped off one of my rifles to my building's custodian, I guy I had never previously met, nor have I seen him since he came up and handed me my package, saying he signed for it and knew I was home. Not sure how because I drove in through the parking garage. I was not happy about that, that's for sure, but that is my only Canpar experience. I wouldn't want them to ship anything to me again.

yea, when I got my shipment recently, the Canpar guy (who had no nametag or uniform) flat out asked me if I received weapons. WTF?!? was I on trial or something? I was worried that someone was going to come rob me soon ... I'm still worried

Canpar seems to employ the shady fresh out of prison types at least the the Toronto area

Update from today!

Canpar finally got back to me earlier today, the package is now confirmed lost. Canpar was difficult to deal with and hard to contact the investigator for updates. I suppose they had to exhaust all due diligence actions required to find them but I was not impressed.

this is by far the scariest thing I've read in the last 5 years ... we all hear about gun crimes and perhaps even been victim to it but I cannot believe that a courier can get away with "losing" 2 firearms
even the tsnami causing the meltdown in Japan didn't scare me like this. Now there are 2 45's out there doing who knows what.

Scary indeed, CanPar dropped off my handgun (NZ85B thanks CanAm) to my son, he is old enough. But then asked him if it was the .45 deal (Already done that :) Didnt ask for ID, RPAL or F all, just here's a gun and sign this electronic thingy.
