Canpar......What the hell?

id rather drive out of my way to pick up a package containing a firearm. I had a package with a handgun in it left on my front step with another postal carrier I was not impressed.

Canpar sucks! They should have an agreement to leave packages at canada post offices.

I avoid retailers who only offer Canpar.

Could somebody explain why you are complaining when you ship to your home address and know that you are not going to be home??? Ship it to your work address or a family member /friend that you know would home to receive it. Problem solved stop blaming people for your poor judgement.

Shipping address has to match PAL address

i had no idea the closest canpar depot was an hour away. This is the first time I have had this problem. Everything i have ever ordered online goes to the closest canada post location. Including guns.
Either way, your solutions are still a hassle regardless. Which is not a problem with any other shipper.

I've heard that, but many many guns and crate upon crate of ammo have been delivered to work, no problem. Against 'company policy' so when Canpar pulls up and I'm expecting toys, I take it off their truck, directly to mine. My driver likes it, as he just drags it to the door, and I take it from there. He delivers a lot of discotech packages, and complains about the weight ;)

when i see something online i cant live without, i and it requires a pal, i just email money to my buddy and his wife and they get it sent to their house, shes a stay at home mom so always someone there, then i just grab it from them whenever i get the chance, way easier for me seeing as i work out of town most of the time

My canpar lady is great, she sends me a text and we arrange a time to meet. She also knows what's in the packages and she still doesn't think my ammo hoarding is excessive haha.

Love CanAm but hate canpar. worst thing about Canpar for me is that the delivery guy keeps announcing what the contents are. Even went so far to ask my concierge why I buy so much ammo. Like it's any of his business. Got the concierge all concerned. Horrible. If there was something illegal or unsafe to ship firearms or ammo by mail then it wouldn't be allowed. Canpar delivery guys really need to mind their own business.

Canpar will deliver to your work address, if you call them. However, that won't work for many people as not all employers will be okay with this. The Canpar depots are too far away for most people and the hours open are too short. Closed on weekends and they try to deliver twice and then send back to the sender. It's tough to get your package from them, if you're a working person.

well maybe people work in places where having firearms or ammunition shipped to them would not be a good idea or would cause trouble?

I used to get it shipped to work ALL the time. And I worked in a grocery store...
I'd just let the receiver or customer service person know I was expecting a parcel and they'd page me. After a few times I had got chatting with the CanPar guy and he would just call my cell. I'd meet him at him truck outside and go from his truck to mine. Even when I started delivering them to home he'd give me a call, ask where I was at. If I was out and about he'd drop it as per my instructions (garage, wood shed, etc)

I had a super nice driver, but by the sounds of things YMMV

I tried....They said its signature required from the seller......I understand that....But when I write on the slip for them to hide it behind the cedar hedge beside my front door.....They still wont do it...

All I want is my package...like pulling teeth.....Have another package coming next week that will be the same thing over again.....GRRRRRRRRRRR

Thats bull. I just got a package from Epps, using Canpar. The tag they left said to sign it, and tell them what to do. I told them to put it between my screen door, and signed it, and thats what they did. Its right there on the signature card.

If I know I'm not going to be home to receive the parcel from Canpar, I leave a note hanging from my mailbox that instructs them to leave it on my porch. I sign and print my name on the note and they are good to go. Never had a problem yet. By you signing and printing you are authorizing them to leave the parcel and take responsibility if something happens after they drop it off.

Yep I was at work and my wife missed the delivery guy a second time so now I get to drive an hour to pick it up. This wasn't from CanAm sorry but another site sponsor who I won't deal with again and not because of canpar. This was a warranty return and a new shotgun delivered, didn't even know it was coming until I got the missed delivery slip. Anyway last time he delivered my wife signed for it and he goes "I know what's in the box" so yeah they know what they're delivering.

I have good experience with Canpar, if it's just ammo order or non restricted rifle, call them and arrange them to deliver to my business's address. If it's restricted order, call and arrange them to deliver on my day off. All you need is patience and phone call.

My CanPar delivery was 2 days later than what was estimated, (took 6 days) which isn't terrible but a little slower than when CanadaPost ships
HOWEVER, at some point they misinterpreted my home address at some point during the shipping process and got the house number off
The called me and are not allowed to deliver it to my 'real' address so have to come pick it up at their depot.. across the city in rushour
It closes at 5:30 which gives me half an hour to get there.

Now CanadaPost on the other hand is usually open til 9, including weekends so I can go get it whenever its convenient for me

If it's a small town maybe leave a note with your cell number and when buddy calls you can arrange to meet him somewhere else that's convenient?
Depends on whether you can leave work or not though. Our Canpar guy is nice and he's familiar with Disco-Tech as well. I've pulled over when I've seen his truck parked making deliveries on days I was expecting something and gotten the package right there saving him an extra delivery with no one home.
