Canpar......What the hell?

Canpar doesn't even come out here. Gets left at some place in town about 45 mins away that's open 2 hours a day. I'd order a ton more from CanadaAmmo than I do if there was any other option. Good news for brick and mortor retailers I guess

Winnipeg they gave me a pick up window from 530pm-6pm. So I asked if I could get my wife to pick it up since its just parts and not a gun this time. I got 2 answers 1 lady said yes she can, the other lady said no she couldn't. Doesn't matter she said if they live at the same address if it's not you, nobody else can sign for your package. So I said fine, then the 1st lady called me back saying actually the 2nd lady was wrong, my wife could go pick up the package as long as she had her ID. When she got there, they didn't ask for ID just name and address. These guys don't even know their own policy, also the very first time I dealt with them was with a handgun, they knew it was a gun even kept it in a restricted cage. But never asked to see my RPAL, STATT or my drivers license just asked for my name and address and then gave it to me.

Basically with the Winnipeg one, if you found your neighbours attempt to deliver sticker, you could potentially steal their package. So Irunguns and CanadaAmmo please find other shippers. Everyone else uses Canada Post I've never had issues with them, delayed my delivery of a restricted 3 hours but that was Winnipeg weathers fault.

Well Can-Par had no trouble leaving my 1911 and a crate of ammo for it on my front step for a whole day. That was with out my authorization.

Im pretty sure Can-Par actually ships by ship. The Panama Canal must be busy at this time of the year because thats really the only way to explain how long they take to move stuff from Vancouver to Toronto. That being said, the driver that actually came to my house was a good guy, and pretty much knew what was in the box based on the shipper's name. We talked guns for 5-10 minutes, then he went on his way. :)

Reminds me of last Xmas EVE, buddy was suppose to get ammo delivered to his place in the Valley and they sent it to his OLD place in Bedford. They wasn't going to re deliver it to his place. Here I am Xmas EVE driving to make it to Canpar in time because by the time he figured it out was close to being time to send it back, Because I was closer to the depot then he was being an hour away.

Now my step father he doesn't have a problem with Canpar when dealing with his business stuff.

Canpar recently left a box with a rifle on my front porch in plain view of the entire street and didn't even bother ringing the bell. My wife was at home that afternoon, so there's no excuse for that sort of negligence.

Lucky, I want them to leave the box on my steps ;)

Get use to it guy's! From what i've been reading everything did get delivered eventually.. Transforce owns both Canpar and Loomis and possibly another one? I had a firearm delivered by CP yesterday and she was filling out the not home card before she even got out of her truck??? But I was home and got delivery!!! So "Drone" delivery from the mother ship is the only way the system will change!!!

When I've included my phone number and the seller puts it on the delivery address info, the driver has called me both times before heading out. I told him to just leave it at the depot and I'll pick it up.

Just had some binary targets delivered to GP through CanPar while I was working. The old lady saw a strange man at the door and said she wouldn't answer it... Anyway, he left the package on my step which was sweet...kind of.

Either they are missing the instructions to "do not safe drop" or it's not being asked by the shipper.

My orders through Canpar (all Canam) have always arrived in Ontario in a timely manner, usually before their estimated delivery date. When I can't have it delivered, I tell them to hold it and then go pick it up (in and out quick and they have good hours at the depot). Why can't you guys get it shipped to your place of work?

Canpar has a perfect record with me. Can't say that about any other companies.

Could somebody explain why you are complaining when you ship to your home address and know that you are not going to be home??? Ship it to your work address or a family member /friend that you know would home to receive it. Problem solved stop blaming people for your poor judgement.

This^^ Get them to deliver it to your work place!!

Because my building has multiple employers and no shipping/receiving area. Why can't they leave it with a signature on delivery notice or why can't they have reasonable pick up hours. In Regina they essentially have no pick up hour's they have pick up minutes. They are the worst.

They ignored my request to ship via Canada Post. Now I have to stay at home to get the parcel. These were just gun parts -- not ammo.

CanAm will ship Canada Post if you ask them.....unless it's ammo/primers of course, then you are boned.

A lot of it is who the driver is... The guy working my route is a CGN'r, and he's awesome to deal with - he can pretty much tell you what's in the box by weight, and goes out of his way to make sure the delivery happens.

Most of the CanPar routes are assigned to an individual driver, or contracted out to an individual driver. If you're ordering a fair bit of stuff online, it's worth your while to make sure you can meet them once, and take the time to be nice to the guy or gal. Even just remembering their name means something, and will make all the difference.

My CanPar guy specifically holds off delivering to me until the end of his route/day so he catches us just before dinner.

You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Just sayin'.

There is a lot to be said for this line of thinking and keeping the CanPar, UPS, etc. people sweet.

Yes it is their job to deliver stuff and yes they have rules to follow, but it is amazing what can be done with a friendly and generous approach.

Canada Post... not so much.

I had a good experience with them.
I made a note on the 1st attempt to drop off form for them to put the package in my shed in the backyard and that worked out. The next day my package was in there as requested. Maybe I had a good driver?
