when the zombies come....they will have little gopher zombies walking alongside them, just as deadly and brain-hungry. Blow them gophers up real good, so they can't come back when the dead re-animate!!!

I was shooting velocitors out of my 597 and they shot well........ I had a similar shot to yours the other day and did almost as much damage. The gopher was laying down facing me and went thru the head and out his guts and brought lots out with it. I picked up some quickshoks & yellow jackets at WSS today to try em out, Hopefully they have good results :)
 
Well Buzz, the pic seems to indicate you found your "gopher stopping round"... At first, I was going to guess you shot it with your M14S!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Did you get out with McKiel?

I shot some quik shok into some homemade ballisitic gel, it generally broke into 3-4 pieces. Pretty neat to see the fragments and wound cavity.

If they do duck, it only lasts for a minute! There's so many sometimes, that when one runs into one hole, another gets shoved out a different hole cuz there ain't enough room for all the little buggers.....
 
I don't find that they are affected by the noise much. Most times you can get 2-3 shots at them before they get scared off by flying dust. If you're a terrible shot of course. Not that I would know anything about that..:D

17 HMR and 223 do about the same every time, but pricey. As for gophers being scared by thenoise, does not happen. most often when you fire, another stands up to see what is going on. Also, gophers run on a schedule. Early morning till about 10 they will usually pop up after a very short time. They don't like the heat of the day unless they are desperate for food, like in most of southern SK the last few years. Evening shooting from 3 to 7 is usually very productive also.
 
.22-250 with 55 gr V-Max's are pretty spectacular. I just bought some 36 grain Barnes Varmint Grenades and I'm anxious to try them out - sad part is that every piece of brass I own is loaded with V-Max's or Blitz-Kings. Time to shoot a few off...:)

I love Quik Shok!

It has saved my ass on many an occasion of en-masse rabid zombie gopher attacks. Thank goodness for CCI.

I did destroy a nice Erma .22 calibre P-38 copy with that stuff once. Found out later that any Erma made .22 handgun should only be shot with subsonic, or at the most regular bulk pack federals and the like.

The slides on them pistols are made of cast aluminum and are quite weak, kind of like the post war Walther P1, and a bunch of them have a reinforcing pin in the slide as well.

My poor lil' cheap to shoot pistol... the dream is over... :(
