CDTSA Multigun *Complete. Score info and video on POST 127

This get confusing for people. E/TMJ from BDX or Western is actually PLATED making it OK to shoot steel with.
Jacketed rounds (Normally denoted from the "J") is NOT allowed in your pistols when tagging steel. (Rifle is fine for now cause we are shooting paper)

In Short. FMJ = nono
TMJ from Canadian BDX = OK
TMJ from Wolf (yellow box) = OK
Basically any of the remanufactured ammo typically uses plated rounds. (But that is a rule of thumb and not absolute)

To make sure that it is plated, pull the bullet and cut into it with a pair of angle cutters. A jacket round will be thick and typically comes right off the lead. Plate is very thin and will almost mash into the lead. You can meet me on Thursday for a steel challenge if you want us to check it out for you.

Or just go see AmmoKate. She has 4 boxes at 50 rounds per box of wolf in stock. That is what I use on steel normally. You can pickup on Thursdays, but call ahead and get it reserved before it gets scooped up

I'm curious what sort of steel targets you're shooting at that you can't use a jacketed pistol bullet. Are they just mild steel?

Its not the target as much as the splash. People were getting some of the jacket bouncing back and causing cuts so the club just made the rule "plated or lead".
Really that was all done and established before I started shooting there.

We just make sure the targets are 10m away and shooters wear eye pro. There's more blood at our matches from skinned knees and loading shotguns than from any jacket fragments.

What about the WASP TMJ from Kate? I just ordered 1K rounds.

Never tried it, never pulled it.
Quick call to the manufacturer will tell. Or again, we just pull the bullet and check.
But with it being Re manufactured TMJ I would bet money that you are safe..... I would only bet a dollar though :)

Stop by tomorrow at 5 and we will give you a definitive answer.

Wish I could, but I'll be playing daddy taxi service picking up my daughter from Gymnastics.

I'll take my chances on Sunday. If they're no good, InnerCity and I trade enough stuff back and forth that I'm sure I won't go unarmed. Going to need to borrow his 92fs holster and mag pouches anyway.

I think I have a kydex 92fs thigh rig if u want to borrow it. You still need a belt, but it's better then nothing. Let me know if you want me to bring it.

Will do.
Also looking for 3 more people to help with setup on Saturday. (good way to get a sneak peek)

Any volunteers?

Will see what I can do, but unlikely. Getting even 1 day pass a week from the family is hard enough, and I was at the vintage rifle shoot all last weekend, so I got a bit of the stink eye when I mentioned I was going to be gone this Sunday.

Will try and get there early Sunday (around 8ish), and see if I can help out a bit.

p.s. Will pull a couple bullets from the WASP and do the test. Seems pretty straightforward.

Also, as far as belts go... Can't leave home without one. Middle aged spread means my pants end up around my knees if I skip that part of my attire.

I'm going to compete, but not expecting to be competitive. Going to be using my AR, which has a grand total of 15 rounds through it at this point, and is kinda sorta sighted in. My 92 just got the factory grease wiped off a few minutes ago and re-oiled. For shotgun - well, that at least I've used a fair bit.

Looking forward to it. Any excuse to make the sticks go bang and have a bit of fun on the weekend.

If you cant get help saturday, I could come early sunday to help setup. Unfortunately saturday wont work for me either. I found a 300 round box of bdx tmj, still on the hunt for some more.

Cool, thanks, I should be there at 8am with the gate open.

Sunday setup is going to be a breeze... just a few paper targets and that's it. (If we can get the steel pulled out on Saturday)

...it's going to be fun.... I'm getting excited....

Yep, Shepard.
Looks like there might be some light rain too. This go around we don't have any rolling around on the ground to do, so no worries about that. Might want to bring some extra ammo just in case the fair weather shooters bail out and we have some extra time to run a stage a second time.

Ideally when we have some steel stored out at Milo we will run some large (hopefully two day w/ camping) matches out there. But only time will tell.

Like to extend a big thank you to the guys that put this shoot on. It was my first shooting competition/3 gun shoot and I had a fantastic time. Good course of fired with some interesting twists. I deffinately took some lessons and hopefully will build on them!
