Cell Trail Cameras

You choose and set up the communication times between the camera and your phone. As frequently as every photo taken or less frequently to conserve camera battery. Any changes to the camera that you want to make will occur after you’ve made them through the app at the next communication time. You can set the camera to take a picture and send it at the next communication time. But not poke the camera at any time to instantly send a live feed or pic.
Unless they have upgraded the system this is how my few years old SPYPOINT operates.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you basically want a trail cam that works like a video doorbell, where you can open an app on your phone or whatever and see a live feed, regardless of whether the motion sensor was tripped?

Can't say I've heard of such a product, but sounds like a decent idea.

I want to be able to ask the camera to send me a live picture of what I have it pointed at.

I've done Spypoint but much prefer Stealth Cam. I have the Deceptor and Deceptor Max models. They just launched some models that are able to stream live. Mine have picture on demand which I like and overall have been very reliable. I had one that was 3 years old crap the bed and they replaced it without question. In fact they sent me a much newer model and as a bonus threw in a second camera lol. They do not have a free plan though like Spypoint which gives you 100 pics.

Communication times (sync) are adjustable down to every 2 hours. So the SPYPOINT can be set to send you a pic or video at sync times, as frequently as every 2 hours without being triggered by motion. But you can’t command the camera to take a picture on demand from your phone at random times.
It’s set up so the camera looks for new instructions from the app at sync times.

Ridgetec does exactly this - the app has a "take picture now" option.
Click the button - takes the pic and you have it about 2 mins later
New cams are pretty nice too - I get 3 bars of service on the cam in places where my Iphone has no service. So far - quite impressed

Battery life is drastically reduced doing this.
