CFB Petawawa CQB Clinic 05-06 September 2015 - Debrief here!!

Good Friday morning! Any morning above ground is a great morning!

Just packing up the truck and ensuring I don't forget anything!

Rolling into Petawawa after supper sometime. Who knows? But one thing is for sure, breakfast at the Normandy Mess hall, on the edge of Nicklin Parade Square is great for the money! We will be there for 0700 if anyone wants to join us. You just park on the Parade Square, look for my grey 2010 Tacoma with the Hello Kitty sticker and then walk into the front door. Don't forget to wash yer hands.

Grab a tray, knife, fork, and spoon and order up your eggs / style (easy over, scrambled), bacon, sausage, pancakes or potatoes, and then serve yourself the drinks , fruit, condiments. Then once your tray is loaded up, you pay for the food. Very good price I have to add! :)

I won't have much of an internet signal, but I will check this forum with my limited data plan!

Safe drive , everyone!

cheers,

Barney I am at the firehall tonight ....drop in as long as its before my bedtime ...lol
My office # is 613-687-5511 ext 4555 . cell 613-639-2919
I will have to run home in the morning to pick up my equipment and I will meet you at P-141 if I dont see you tonight

Good news ...They moved the portipotties next to the range shack on Echo range !!
We now have 5 of the little shacks of love nearby so you can leave the toilet paper and extra underwear at home !!
I saw 4 turkeys on Echo and 18 on Bravo just now .....NO SHOOTING THE TURKEYS ( Range Control and Base would Vapour lock !! )
In the mid 80,s a deer made the mistake of walking onto a live fire range in Wainwright and my Platoon Commander made the mistake of not caring...we ate good that night in the trenches and he got 33 duty officer duties when we got back to Victoria !

Yep , there is two of us coming from GTA. About half way there. I ll check this thread again when we get in, if you are arround for a beer, we ll need one. ETA about 1030-11

hypebucket,

Just hanging out for a bit. Two of us here. Probably going to crash somewhat early tonight because it was a long day. You want to meet up for a bit? Downstairs?

If I dont get lost en route this time I should be at the mess hall around 7:30.

FYI those of you going there first time, take your hat off when you go in.

What's up boys (and girl), was an awesome weekend meeting everyone even though it was bloody hot, I evidently can't shoot my pistol at 25yds & the trusty PWS piston busted before i could really put it through the Mad Minute (Whaaaaaaaa???). I made it back to MTL in 3hrs31 minutes and was i happy to hop into the shower. If anyone has a good idea of how we could all share our pictures and videos let me know so we can centralize it all! I know someone has 4k video of Tango 13 and Romeo 4 wants to see himself in HD ;)

Safe travels to all those still on the road!

0100 hours now and just unloaded the restricted love out of the Taco truck. I seem to make it home in six hours. Never five or five point five hours. It's late but I have much be thankful for......
A great cleanup crew
A super helpful and most valuable Assistant RSO..Rick
The best pointman I could ever ask for: chalkriver
Fabulous and reliable safety people; uh hey that would be all the just finished shooting relays
Easy to please guests both shooting and watching
Super happy guests the unexpectedly shares the range with us today
The greatest veterans who joined us for one and/or both days (4 of them)
Most humorous shooters who put up with my old jokes; didn't I tell you to bring a sense of humor? :)
Danny's Steak House staff who expected 25 people only to seat 34 of us

And then 32 shooters, Holy Cow poop Batman!

Most grateful and most happy. Gotta crash!!

Cheers, Barney

Already told you to get a Glock.

At least the Sig Sauer m400 saved the day.

Once again, gotta give it to Barney for putting on an excellent clinic. Big thanks to Chalkriver for letting us use the range!

Thanks to all the participants at this CQB, there were many new faces that I hope to see again at the next clinics.

So here's what I learned this time: muzzle brakes will singe arm hair in the modified prone. Piston driven does not seem to be as reliable as I thought. Practice makes perfect, my mag changes were smooth and precise, I finally found a setup that works. Lastly, running the sling through my plate carrier shoulder strap prevents sling chafing.

Thanx to all for great time. Would love to see picture or videos, if anyone wants to share them. Specially want to see pink ear muffs.

We got another visitor at the end of the day

She came to visit with three cubs.

Hahahahah yah, we'll see about the Glock KND, thanks again for loaning me your M400 yesterday!

update on the piston: haven't called PWS yet, but i look into the BCG and piston system and indeed it is a two part system with the operating rod connecting to the the piston head from up top, no third piece to clamp them together. Will update once I have more info.

Myself and big Ken made it home by 1:35am jacked on red bulls. Almost got a nice buck with his chev. Thanks again Barney for a great clinic and being patient with the newbs. hypebucket...trade that pws in for a Daniel defense. They all ran flawless!!! Hahahahahahha. now on to getting ready for precision rifle!

Any chance folks who took pictures with professional looking cameras will post them here? If there are security concerns, we can set a closed an invite only Facebook group ?
