CGN Cold-Bore Challenge

Ok, what was the gear?

A stock off the shelf(trigger recall done).308 Rem 700 SPS varmint 26" 1/12 twist with Factory Federal 165 Gamekings, Harris bipod, old sock filled with popcorn rear bag, yoga mat, Vortex 4-16 FFP EBR and 2.2 mils come up from 100m zero.

Previously, the Nosler 165 Trophy Accubonds and the Fed 168 SMK GMM all shot to the same zero@ 100m as the Gamekings.
So I decided to try the Gamekings.

Here's the "firing line" and setup LOL.

I have always hated 100 yard groups. Always found them to be counter productive, but I really liked the idea of the cold bore, cold shooter concept. First round hits, trusting your DOPE, trusting your equipment are what count. Here is my third attempt from today. Both Ammo and Rifle are left to sit for 30 mins and cool off. Still holding the same zero from summer. So this puts the rifle at 300 rounds with out being cleaned, still holding .5MOA. Will finish off the last 2 targets soon....might even wait for a -40 day what the hell. Definitely not my best shooting, but for not being able to feel the rifle not to bad.

Jug ... The idea is to put the group shot each day on the same sheet ... and shoot each group on a different day ... Just the first of the three in each days group needs to be from the cold bore. What caliber is your rig?

It is the first three on each day date is posted on each target. Same sheet just targets are ripped off you guys are to technical for me......260 Rem. Good luck boys.

Technical maybe...........

And it should be on the target on the first page of this thread....... :)

Thanks tips. Let us know when you get out of your arm chair and go and actually do this. If you need me to draw a 1 inch black circle around my targets let me know will gladly accommodate :)

Nice, I wouldn't leave the house at those temps, let alone go shooting....

jugi ... Drawing the circles like I did is pretty easy. A quarter, felt pen ... and I would recommend thick paper so the holes cut clean. I took pics after every group/day but just posted the first and last. Hope you get some warmer weather.

Just wanted to bump this up as spring is around the corner, or so some stupid ground hog said. Currently just over half way through this challenge, no slips ups yet. The scariest part was the scope swap at the beginning!

Recalled this thread after the question posed in another thread asking about CB accuracy ... but with a “factory” rifle.
