chamberings on -06 head sized bolt faces?

8mm-06. I had one done many years ago. Smoked a few whitetail with it. Nothing fancy, but got the job done.

Had one of those, turned it into an 8mm-06 AI. Very good cartridge, there wasn't much in NA that it wouldnt work on. Got the speed itch though, and built an 8mm Gibbs. - dan

I’d do the 35 Whelen. After you see how it smacks game you will understand why. It also effective out to 400 yards with modern safe loads

It is one cartridge that has most definitely aged well. I would not feel undergunned chasing the angriest bear on the continent with it. I'm waiting to come across a stash of Barnes Vor-TX 200gr to try out on deer as well.

Do a 275Rigby. It's much gooder than a lowly olde 7x57.

Now you are being silly. But I will say, tried 7x57 dummies, and it holds 6 in the mag....hmmmm

Need a larger bolt face, and the feed lips will need work. Great cartrdige though, almost an 8 Rem Mag. - dan

Different... doesn't even require a new barrel, just remove 1/2" off the tenon and rechamber.

Top rifle is a 7X64 Brenneke... I have had half a dozen or so over the years, Nice, easy shooting hunting cartridge.

You Missunderstand ? LOL - My Buddy Bare said you can get 400 yards out of a 35 W- i say you can get 500 yards out of a 338-06 !

BUT if under 300 yards the 338 Federal will take of things ! Buddy Bare there dropped a HUGH moose Last fall at 380 yards with his 338 Fed and a couple of Barnes 160 TTSX bullets ! RJ

IMHO ONLY ! i believe the 338-06 is the better caliber - cartridge Period ! But saying that ! there's nothing wrong with a a 35 cal of any kind ! I think the 358 STA is ONE of the BEST-EST big cartridge's ever ! LOL RJ

How is the 7X64?

It is a very nice cartridge. Smooth feeding, moderate recoil, enough powder to push heavier 170+ grain 7mm pills. Good choice for any NA game and most others.

Agree. I have both the 280 and a 7x64. Ballistically they are practically twins. the x64 wins in the cool factor though. - dan

Do 30-06s get rebarrelled ?? i thought that was where Everyone ended up once they Rebarrelled Most other Cartridge and calibre options..... that and the 308 IS the end place of all Gun nutterz......... who no longer feel like playing in the rabbit holes of all the other Cartridges, in which these 2 do absolutely all of which can and will within their reason...""


My example would be- my kimber - i found one in 7mm08 so i snapped it up. i lter found a 308 barrel taken off as new- snapped that up without thinking- However. IF it were the other way around, it ouldnt of been such a no brainer....
