If you get the Rossi, try to get the big loop. I made the mistake of getting the regular, recoil jams the lever into my middle finger, not an issue on the big loops I have shot.
The gun itself is alright not pretty, but as accurate as any 92 pattern I guess and is great on the SxS as a heater bush gun. The annoying thing is the safety, which some people remove.

Rossi 92's action that I got was smooth right out of the box. Safety switch not really an issue for me. I changed the rear sights to a Skinner peep sight.
I hand load so recoil is decent. I've got the small loop, one thing I need to do is do some lever wrapping on it to protect the knuckles when working the lever.

I am wondering the same thing, but specifically which one handles cast bullets better. Many .44 magnum carbines have oversized bores, .421"-.423" and don't handle cast bullets well unless they are made with a custom oversize mould. I have tried a Browning 92 and a Marlin and both had loose bores and I had problems shooting cast bullets with both. For me, the fit and finish of the Chiappa is worth the extra cost, but wonder how they shoot.

Was just going to mention my Rossi .44 has an oversized barrel. It shoots plated and jacketed fine. Although it shoots quite high, even with the rear sight on lowest notch, I've heard this with another owner(use lighter charged ammo or adjust accordingly). Never had any problems with action. Safety is what it is. My front sight post fell out, possibly my fault, it get banged around. Kicks hard, the butt plate doesn't do any favors, solid, it'd knock teeth out. I like it that way though..
It's worth the money I'd say. If you want a nicer fit an finish, splurge. There's so many nice 92s I'd get a Winchester, (drools)

I've owned 2 rossi's, and still have a 24" octagon barrel 92 in .44 mag that is great. Great guns when I paid $525 a couple years ago, but I'm not sure I'd pay the $1000 they're asking nowadays, but I'd never sell the one I have and can't imagine hunting without it.

If you can afford a bit more I would try and get a Winchester made by Miroku.
