So, I've been looking at black rifles and doing what reading I can for a while now, but my mind still changes fairly frequently on what I actually want.
I've got a few ideas, and while I know there's no definitive answer, and there will be people who will prefer one over the other, I was hoping to get some opinions on what the best choice is here.
To start with, I want a decent, reliable, and accurate AR with EOTech 552 HWS (I don't want a scope, I've already got a scoped rifle). I'm also quite keen on the fore grips that double up as a bipod. I'd prefer non restricted, but I'd probably hunt with a bolt action, so I'm open to restricted if it offers something really attractive over the non-res.
The two rifles that are around the right price, and that I've always had a want-on for are the H&K SL8, and the XCR. The XCR also provides an additional complication in choosing the calibre. My initial feeling was to go for the 7.62 (more power = good?), but now I'm thinking that the 5.56 is cheaper (and probably easier to find, should ammo ever become harder to get hold of), so it may be the smarter way to go.
So, anyone got any opinion on any of the above, or anything I'm missing that might be a better way to go?
