CIL Firearms Listing and Discussion (Canadian Industries Limited)

I can't get the list to repost... grrr

[Hi Folks,
I've just received an email from Marocchi confirming that they made the Anschutz 520's and CIL branded 300's and 470's in the 60's! They are Marocchi SM64's. I did not get an answer to the Anschutz factory markings on the CIL models. I'm assuming that Anschutz brought them in and stamped those marks themselves. I'll update the sheet as soon as I can.

Barrels could have been made in Italy and assembled and proofed in Germany?

I've got a nice 772 .410 SxS. Nice n tight, clean. Maybe a bit on the heavy side

No idea on markings, or manufacturer though.

Says "Canadian International Limited" and "made in Spain" on the barrel
Hammerless, double trigger. Nicely engraved too.

I have a CIL 972-C in 30 06

it is stamped:

Canadian Industries Limited
Montreal Canada Made in England

C I L 972-C BNP

Clip is stamped

Parker-Hale ENGLAND
PART No 98/223
CAL 30/06& 270

Here are pics to the documents that came with it. I am the second owner.

Yes they were built by Parker Hale fir C.I.L., same as the Franchis and Savage rifles and others

No one has mentioned theyre ammo. Dont know much about it but it smells great. Ive fired off old high brass plastic #4 and #5. Patterns great and used to really crunch lake ducks back in the days of lead. Ive fired off some paper cil ammo to. Not the same smell as imperial papers but just as satisfying

I have some CIL ammo i just got that my dad bought many years ago. This is the only CIL I own which is a single shot .22 with Anschultz barrel and I'm sure there are many of these out there. If I remember correctly it was bought at either Kmart or Eatons back in the day.

CIL never manufactured one firearm they were all contracted firearms built by other firearm manufacturers and were of entry level quality . They got lucky for awhile with ansultz 22” the 170 pump 30-40 is possibly the worst rifle ever built by any company

That's a nice looking 111...certainly better than average as most of the ones I've seen are beat pretty badly. The 111 was the Flobert 1 action and is the same as the Anschutz 1361 as near as I can figure.

Mine looks very similar except 5round repeater
Dark wood, hooded front sight, fold down rear, adjustable trigger ( never touched)
Says CIL on it and made by jg Anschutz
No CIL or Anschutz model number
Was it common to not have a model number on these?
Purchased it at a local mom and pop shop about 50 years ago
It was my second 22 after a Cooey Model 60

Hi Lightning,
That is interesting! I've never seen one of the Anschutz made CIL's that didn't have a model number stamped on the top front of the chamber area right where the front scope mount would sit. Could I get pic's please??? I'm trying to track down as many variants as I can and would love to be able to document yours. I now have a complete set of the CIL/Anschutz with several different variations of some models. I'm trying to find the time to take pics and post for the variants I've got but time is a bit of an issue.... some day I'll get to it.
The 5 shot repeaters are (in my experience) either FLobert 2 actions (easily identifiable by the red ring or red cocking plunger at the back of the bolt (I've got both) and the safety on the left) or the Match 64 Actions (easily identifiable by the fact that the back portion of the bolt itself is the cocking indicator and the safety is on the right).
The fold down rear sight was used on some variants of both models but I'm not sure whether that was a factory option or something someone did along the way. If you can post pics I'd love to see it especially to see if the barrel is banded in the area of your rear sight.
Thanks for posting!

They also marketed the 54 action as a 5 shot repeater as well as in 22 WMR.
Not all of the model numbers were marked on the rifles for some reason, I have seen many come through our house when Dad worked for C.I.L. without model markings on them.

Thanks for the info Cat!! Now, however, I have to go find me some examples .... I'll tell my wife it's all your fault....

so... if anyone has "CIL" branded, Anschutz Made rifles with no Model number, or a "CIL" branded 54 action in any calibre (other than the 900 in 222) - please let me know...

Still trying to figure out how to post pics
However, unbanded rear sight
Schnabel fore end
Safety on right side
Much like the model Savage/Anschutz on the internet

This type of trigger
I purchased it brand new in a box

I can send pics to your email address if you wish. PM me

Yours is a Model 310 with Match 64 action as near as I can tell. Great little rifles! Here's a pic of the actions that I know about for these rifles. I'll post some trigger info soon.
